Just Joss and Me!

I know I haven't written much lately-- just haven't been online a whole lot it seems. At least not longer than to check email. As you can tell by the post before... Bev and Kevin spent Spring Break down here a couple weeks ago. It was a WONDERUL week. Not only because he surprised her and proposed, but the weather was absolutely perfect, we got to do a lot of cool stuff, and just had a great week.

We got to have a fire on the beach one night, took a boat trip to Staniel Cay to see the pigs (my first time to see them out and swimming), of course hit up Chat-N-Chill and just had fun hanging out. It was a very quick week!
We've been getting ready for this week's sailing trip pretty much since they left. Regatta was last week to, which brings a ton of people to the island. I've heard before that it has been known to bring about 25,000 people to the island... but I can't remember where I heard that number or if it's accurate. There's definitely A LOT of folks though. Tons of people from Nassau have their cars shipped here for the few days they are here... so there's lots of traffic on our one little road too. We usually say away from the chaos for the most part. We went out once or twice to see a few races during the day.. but not at night when it gets really crazy.

Dallas left for this week's sailing trip on Sunday. What a day from you know where that was! Joss and I had to make two trips to Barre Tarre (launch site--45 min tip one way) because some gear got left behind on the first trip--ugh. That wasn't even the bad part. The wind was blowing like crazy! After lunch, they set sail again. One of the boat's boom snapped in half and ripped the mainsail right up the middle. Luckily Dallas always takes a spare set, but he was a little nervous having to use it on the first day.

While he was repairing this boat's stuff, he told the other guys in boat #2 to stay close by. Once boat #1 was ready to go again, he tried to spot boat #2. All he managed to spot was two people waving at him from the water-- no boat, no sails, nothing but people waving. They had managed to capsize the thing and the boat was directly underneath them just barely off the ground. The only thing they couldn't find after it tipped was one of our coolers with drinks and fruit. Dallas managed to find it the next day on a nearby beach.

Anyway--- while he was helping boat #2 get right side up and situated, boat #1 managed to sail off (what's with these guys??). They ended up sailing all the way up to the original camp spot without realizing the other boat had capsized and they wouldn't be going that far after all. So Dallas had to go out and track these guys down and bring them back to the beach they would actually be camping at that first night. DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA

Needless to say, these guys are taking it all in stride and seem to be having a great time now. They have a fun little "adventure" story that Dallas said they've been joking about all week. Dallas is relieved that this has all happened and is behind him now. He's not anticipating when all this bad stuff will happen for the first time now. The boom and the sail aren't going to be cheap to replace by any means... but somehow.. it'll work out.
With Dallas gone... the only good thing is not having to share the remote at night :) It stinks not having him here... so I have to find something good in it. I get my chick-flick-fix without feeling guilty for making Dallas watch them with me :) Movies like Pride & Prejudice, The Holiday and Twilight have filled the week so far :) Thanks to Bev, I am totally hooked on Twilight now. My friend Erika has always talked about them and how good the books are, but I've never taken the time to read them. Well, Bev brought me the DVD ( I won't embarass myself by admitting how many times I've watched it already)... and our friends Chris and Laura are coming next month so I've ordered all 4 books for them to bring :) It's okay-- I know I'm a nerd!!

Joss is always really good when he knows I'm the only one here... or I'm more patient one. I know there's no back-up, and he's just always really easy going. He's still cutting teeth right now, and I think that's had him feeling kind of funny the passed week or so. He seems to be enjoying taking it really easy right now (which is good for me too). We have one or two rentals to deal with this week, but the hard stuff is behind us now.
Anyway-- this is long and probably not too exciting... so I'm gonna go for now! Hope you are all doing well! Love ya!

Wow, that really stinks about that trip. I hope all goes well in the future!

You'll have to let me know what you think of the Twilight series. My favorite book is the third one. I wasn't a fan of the last one, though. But it's still a fun read. :)
