Emit sleeping here sums up how we all have felt the last couple of weeks leading to these big sailing trips. Quite Exhausted!!! Nancy came down with a couple friends right in the middle of all the chaos, but we still tried to show them a good time...
She lost her watch at some point on the tube, but she held on pretty well :)
The boys have been great sports through all the running around and extra errands lately. I know it hasn't been easy on them, but they are handling it very well, mommy is so proud!
Joss is loving 'swimming like a big boy' without wings. He gets so excited when his head goes under and he comes back up. He'll shout, "did you sawed that mommy, I went all the way UNDER!"
These guys are becoming really sweet play buddies. We still fight over toys and get carried away at times, but I have a feeling I will be able to say that until they are 20 (maybe even longer). When they are on the beach they play this chasing, tagging and falling down game. In case that isn't clear enough, they will take turns chasing each other, then they will tag (or push) each other and then that person will fall down and they both start laughing like crazy. It's so cute and funny until Joss gets so excited and starts shoving Emit face-first into the sand. Emit keeps laughing, and Joss does too, but mommy doesn't like it when it gets to that point, so I have to put a stop to it. At least long enough to cool them off to start again.
I just love these shots of Emit :) His hair is going wild...he'll be getting his first official haircut soon (have to wait for Daddy to be home though).
There is something really entertaining about running on the beach for these guys...They run up the beach, they run down the beach, they run across the beach, they run around the beach... it's a great pre-nap activity :)
Dallas and I have been burning the midnight oil for weeks now. But right before the trips go out it's always extra hectic and the to-do lists are a mile long. This one was even more so because he was trying to finish up all the boats! He was out in the driveway working on the boats by spotlight and I was in the kitchen baking and prepping the meals.
I love this man!! I am so proud of all the hard work he has put into these boats. So many people around the island have been telling him how great the boats look too, and I am so thankful for that. It's always nice to hear encouragement from someone other than your spouse on a job-well done!
I love this logo! It was the final one to go on, and we got to get the whole family involved here :) Emit's first print was a little tricky (the red one below the C), but after that one he got the hang of it and did really well. It was hard for me to take photos because it was a messy situation that we had to be very careful with.
Joss was a little hand print pro though... he did so well and got really excited when we put the paint on his hands. We rented this van below to help run our guests around for our trip and the boys have had a blast riding around in it. Joss keeps calling it the 'cool van'. We had a conversation that went something like this:
Me: "Do you guys like riding around in this cool van?"
Joss: "YEAH!"
Me: "Would you like it if Mommy and Daddy could get a van like this?"
Joss: "Yeah....you just have to ask Smitty's and I bet they have one."
Me: "Oh, you think Smitty's (our little tiny grocery store) will have one we can buy?"
Joss: "Yep! You can check."
Me: "Well, how are we going to pay for it? I don't know if we have enough money for one."
Joss: "You could give them some quarters, that would work!" :)
I wish that would work, baby! I would love to have another vehicle. Since we've been married we have only ever had one car. And right now, I would LOVE another car. The truck is a work truck through and through (and falling apart by the day). And it is very inconvenient loading the boys in and out of their car seats....but I should be thankful we have a car at all. And thankful that we aren't paying for gas for two...it costs us $159 to fill up our truck the other day (which is a weekly, or more) thing. YIKES!
Joss, above, with his iTouch....a must have for the long car rides, that works very well. Emit likes to hold his own and watch the cartoons on it. They are so cute sitting in their seats holding them. Everyone gets a kick out of it when they see them.
The boys were entertaining themselves with the fun new toys we had in the house prepping for the trip. A few minutes after this they were sitting in the living room together reading books. Joss was 'reading' the book to Emit and Emit was listening and responding to every little thing. The book was from a cartoon called Super Why? and Joss sang all the songs too. It was so sweet!
The pretty new boats getting ready to go out...so pretty!!!!
Mommy's little helpers! CC, notice Joss' shoes??? I keep forgetting to tell you that all he wants to wear now is his Scooby-Doo shoes :) All on his terms!
Emit is a shoe dude! I'll find him running around the house wearing one of Joss' shoes or trying to put on my shoes. He gets very excited when I ask him where his shoes are... he'll run around looking and then excitedly say "They it is!!!" (there it is) when he finds them. He loves showing me that he has "choo" (two) shoes on too.
Joss has gotten very spoiled to me reading in their room at night while they fall asleep. It has definitely become a routine...and I actually look forward to that time of quiet with them while I'm enjoying a good book. Most nights when I go to lay him down he'll say to me, "mommy, you stay in here and read over there in that chair and make me very happy!" How can I turn that down??? :)
Two little things for Emit:
1) He loves to close doors. He runs around saying "too-whoas dooo-or" (close door) and making sure every door in the house is closed. The other day he was closing the outside door, and as I'm saying, "watch your fingers, baby" he manages to pinch it in the part that touches the sealant around the frame. Thank goodness it was that part and not the hard part of the door. It still hurt, but the door was locked and I had to unlock it before I could get his little finger out :(
2) He is learning his "please and thank yous" and doing really well. The only thing (which I find adorable) is that he associates "Your welcome" with Thank You so instead of saying Thank You he says "elcome".
Final story for tonight...On one of our trips out in the van the other day we were driving along and Emit was looking down in his car seat saying "zzaat?" (what's that) and since I was driving I couldn't really tell. I asked him if he dropped his snack or toy or something but he just kept saying "zzaat?" over and over. He stopped and then I heard him say "yuck" and a couple seconds later he started crying pretty frantically. I turned back and saw a little beetle crawling up his shirt. Once I told him to hold on and that I was pulling over he stopped crying, but he never took his eyes off of the little invader. I flicked it out the window and he asked me, "go?". He likes bugs, just not when they are crawling on him uninvited :)
(CC--hope this helps you feel better quicker! We love you!!!)

Boats look great ~ love the hand prints :0) Thanks for getting the beetle off of Emit - sounds like he wanted nothing to do with "Zzat" thing!!! So proud of Jossy reading/singing with Emit ~ sounds like a very sweet moment! Love you all very much - be safe...
