Sweet, Sweet Boys!

I'll warn you now... there's lots of shots of my boys eating sweet stuff on this one! I promise that isn't all they eat, and I'm sure many of you think they shouldn't be having any sugar, but sorry...we all like sugar in this house. :)
Emit loves to be pushed around in the stroller or the wagon. When they are riding their bikes, he still just pushes his little tricycle around. He can almost pedal it on his own... but he just runs around pushing it and whipping it around really quick. He's impressive with the way he maneuvers it though. When I start to push him though he always wants me to go 'really, really, really fast!' I'll lace up my sneakers and push them both back and forth in the jogging stroller up and down our road sometimes and they really love that. Gives momma a good little workout too. Their favorite part is going over the speed bumps :)
Dallas took the boys to the beach the other day while I stayed home to work, so this shot above was taken by Joss :) Pretty good, don't ya think? Below is his fake little smile showing off their sand castle.
We had a really windy front come through the last week or so and one evening we went down to see if there were any treasures on the beach. I think it was a little chilly for my 'big boy pants' dudes because they didn't last long looking.
After a quick treasure hunt that only resulted in some pretty funky sea sponges they were heading home.
Daddy made them their own cups of hot chocolate and they were patiently waiting for them. Yep... sitting in the under-roos waiting for hot chocolate :) Guess that's how we feel the 'cold' on the island.
They were helping me paint a little step stool for them the other day. We got more paint on us and the ground than on the stool, but it was fun! They like their little stool now in the bathroom and feel like really big boys standing on it to wash their hands and brush their teeth.
Ha ha, my little 'Fruit Ninjas'...naked and all. This is how Joss stands to play the game. Emit is still a little too small for the camera to pick him up, but he likes to shake his arms around like he's doing something anyway.
Joss is helping me make some cookies below. He likes doing stuff in the kitchen, but when he gets done he'll say, "Phew, my hands are getting tired. I think I'm gonna stand her next to you and rest while you finish." :) The other day he told me, "I love you ALL day, mom!" I guess he was in a pretty good mood at the time.
One of our kayaking friends brought the boys each a swirly pop the other day. Oh boy were they excited. My mom just gave them the Monsters and Aliens Halloween cartoon when she came and a swirly pop was a big deal on that... they were over the moon to have their very own.
They actually lasted longer than I thought they would without getting dirt or rocks on them. One did get dropped and cracked into smaller pieces, but Joss enjoyed it more after that, so he wasn't too upset about it being broken.
Oh my goodness... Joss has started this thing that daddy taught him. Some will be mortified and others will probably get a good kick out of it. Whenever he is about to poot he runs up to us (if we are away from him) or just starts calling to us from across the room by saying, "shhh, shhhhh, shhh!" after we get quiet he lets it rip. Then he just dies laughing! I couldn't believe it the other day when he did it to me for the first time. Daddy is so proud. I'm just waiting for him to do it to someone that it will really embarrass. And yes... Emit is picking up on this too!
Emit and his "where'sd it go?" look below. His big thing to say these days is "I don't want to!" He adds his own special effect to the words and makes them sound really cute... but he's such a little stinker. If I ask him, "Can you go find your shoes so we can go outside?"
"No....I don't want to!" (Emit)
"Well, do you want to go outside?" (me)
"Umm, yeah, yeah, yeah!" (Emit with the excited hand bounce)
"Okay, well, you need to help mommy find your shoes so we can go outside please." (me)
"No.....I don't want to!" (Emit with a sassy little touch to it)
Now tell me... how do I reason with a TWO year old that is too big for his britches?? :)
Rough life just chilly in the shade and breeze with a nice swirly pop all to yourself, huh?
I am working on Emit with his colors. He knows a lot of them, but he gets in a hurry most the time and just blurts out a color before even really looking. Usually that color is 'Buh-dlue' (blue). I don't know he really likes blue or just the way he says it :)
Homeschooling has been a little off schedule with the holidays and some work and stuff, but we're still working on it. The other day we were working with our circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. We had some lacing buttons and fit-a-space things we were playing with and there was one more shape and Joss didn't want to leave that one out, so he was introduced to trapezoids too. He was so cute trying to say that word. Most the time it came out something like 'trap-he-oidz'.
I love how each family has their our pet names and nicknames for things. Some of ours are 'big boy pants' for underwear, 'rain' for the shower water in the tub, 'run 'round naked boy peas?' for Emit asking me if he can run around like a naked boy, please. The cave, which is a little hiding spot under the desk where toys seem to migrate to. There's many others that I just smile about when I think of them because they are special to us.
I will never understand how parents can't/don't play and interact with their children. We have some little kids that live just up the road from us and they are all the time out in their yard playing (they are Joss' age and a little older) on their own and running around without anyone out there with them. My mom always played and interacted with us, made us feel important, loved and cherished. That is something that I will strive my hardest to pass on to my children too.
Daddy is doing a little 'Animal Planet' for the boys in the yard :)
If anyone follows me on facebook you may recall me posting about the boys jumping off of milk crates onto a sleeping pad in the driveway the other day.... here it is in action:
I know, Emit's diaper above is horrible... hence the quick change into big boy pants that were way too big on him. I'm still not really sure what their thoughts were behind this game. They always do one in the boat where they say "Yikes, big wave!" and pretend to fall down. They started this game by doing that at the end of the crates before they jumped into the 'water'. Great little imaginations already :)
 Emit's about to jump...
"Where'sd it go?" See his super droopy pants here :)
I used some scraps that I had left over from making the couch to make a toy box ottoman. It is a very comfy addition to the couch, at least I love to sit with my feet propped up on it, and it is a GREAT toy box to hide their stash in the living room. Emit was having a hard time giving me the space to finish it up the other day.
Then of course, when it was finished it was time for them to play inside of it.
Don't look too closely at the upholstery job... it was done quickly and imperfectly. Trying to give them a nice reminder of what to do with their toys.

I finally finished up my throw pillows for the couch too. I moved the couch to a different spot and I am liking it much more now. My next big project is the boys room and a cool bookshelf for my sisters nursery. I also just got some very exciting news. The woodworking site I love and get all my plans from, Ana-White.com,contacted me to build some new stuff for the site. She will pay for the supplies and sketch up the plans for me, I just have to build and post the pics and project details. Then it's mine to keep! What a deal!!! She sent over payment today...I'm very excited. The project is going to be one for the boys room too. :)
Stay tuned to see how we do Thanksgiving in the Bahamas :)
