May seemed to have come and gone in the blink of an eye. As you can see Dallas had some good fishing! A day out with the men folk resulted in this whopper of a Yellowfin Tuna. We actually just had some more of this thing for dinner tonight and I can say, I am totally spoiled to saltwater fish. Yummy!
Dallas was doing a little advertising here :)
The boys play this little game of hide-n-seek. Most of the time when I ask them to go to their room for us to do something, for whatever reason, I end of finding them here in the closet 'hiding'. I had to ask Emit to peek out and smile for me here. Usually they will tuck their little faces in their hands and hug up to the wall, and 'totally disappear' :)
Joss and I put on a little puppet show for Daddy and Emit one morning just sort of spur of the moment. We did it to the story Three Billy Goats Gruff. Joss loved it and Emit was so curious about what in the world we were doing behind the curtain.
Joss was so cute doing the voices and reciting the story. He is so good at recalling the stories of the books we read. We definitely have to do this again :)
A couple weeks ago we did this little activity in school. I showed Joss this picture below and asked him if he could tell me what was different about these kids.
His response was precious. He said as he pointed, "this one is holding a red balloon, this one is eating a pizza and this one is holding some kind of ball thing." I asked if he saw anything else different about the kids and he said, "this one is a boy, this one is a boy and this one is a girl". Then he went in to the hair color and what they were wearing. We talked a little about the differences in skin and eyes and things for people around the world, but I was so proud of his response.
Such a pure little heart that just loves everyone, and I hope he always has that. He's such a people person and loves to be around others.
Emit and Joss, both, love to show me anything they are doing. Drawings, something cool with their toys, something silly with their face, anything. Sometimes when they are talking to me, I will just talk to them as I'm doing something else, an email, pouring a cup of coffee, making dinner, etc. If Emit wants my full attention he'll tell me, "momma look, turn your head." It always works and always makes me laugh!
I've officially begun a little 'garden' or buckets with a herbs. I have cilantro, parsley, and mint for now. Just some I could find at our nursery and a couple we use. I couldn't resist the mint because it smelled really good, but I don't really use it that much yet. The cilantro plant died off, but the seeds are taking off really well. I'm very excited because I just got a bunch of seed packets from Dallas (when he went to the states) and my parents that just got here to visit. Hoping to expand a lot in the coming weeks! Wish there was a packet of "time" in there... just can't seem to find enough these days.
And I have to throw a shot of our crazy cat, Big Tuna, in here. The boys keep saying, "I want Joy & Snarf back because they weren't as crazy as Tuna." Still makes me so sad to think of our sweet kitties, but I am thankful for this crazy cat. He is sweet and just craves attention, but on the same note he is still a 'wild' cat at heart. He loves to interact with us, but if the boys get all rowdy with him... he doesn't take it like Joy & Snarf did... he fights back, and that's why they get mad at him. But he still has enough 'kitten' in him to make him really playful with strings and toys.
Emit has this really funny habit that he does a lot when he's talking. It started off when he would say "no". He would scrunch up his face like a pirate and instead of saying "argh" it would be the 'no'. He has continued the face scrunching thing still. Whenever he's asking a question or saying something matter-of-factly he squints his eyes and scrunches his face to say things like, "I don't fink (think) my car wants to play wif dat (with that)" or "the truck is at the doctor, why?" It is so cute, and we always mimic him when he does it. And that just feeds the fire and makes him do it even more :)
We spend many evenings sitting around the dinner table laughing hysterically at these little boogers. They get to making each other laugh over the silliest of things, or they will say to us, "When I do this funny thing, be sure to laugh." We may have to pretend laugh at first, but it doesn't take long before we are all rolling.
Big Tuna (above) does his Lion King and King of Pride Rock impression a lot lately.
Above Joss is reading The Best Nest to my mom and sister on the iPad. This was when I was out on my kayaking trip which I will get to soon. Joss is really impressive with this story. I'm pretty sure I have mentioned it on here already.
Night time around here is fairly routine. We do our bath, brush our teeth, get our vitamins, read our stories, give lots of hugs and kisses, turn on their snowman, turn on their moon, turn on their fan and put them in bed. They usually sleep pretty well. Each night they have to take a toy (or more) with them to bed. Joss is pretty good now about keeping his tucked in close to him in bed. Emit has to have them on the top of his covers, on the outside of him, and right next to the rail on his bed. And these toys are usually little matchbox size cars, trains, airplanes, or some other small toy that can easily slip through the gap.
It is so common for Emit to wake up in a frantic yell and cry-out for his toy that fell out of his bed and his blanket to get fixed. Then he almost always 'begs' saying, "I forgot to give you a hug and a kiss". He just can't rest until I 'give in' to the dramatic plea of getting another hug and a kiss (trust me, it doesn't take long for me to be within kissing and hugging distance).
The boys found a caterpillar they named Cathy! We held on to it for a little while and then we decided to let it go so it could go "make a cocoon and turn in to a beautiful butterfly!" Just like in The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The boys love going to the beach! Even more than before. We've had a lot of rain the last few weeks and sometimes it makes it hard to want to go play, but if it is possible, they want to be there.
Every time we go to the beach, the boys find me little shells that they think are pretty. Joss told me one day, "Shells are for girls, momma." Their daddy has trained them well :) When we were dating, one of the first things Dallas gave me was a little straw basket with a collection of shells. He told me that every Bahamian woman has her little collection somewhere in her home. I've taken that little collection with me every time we've moved. The basket got destroyed after our second move or so, but my shells continue to grow. He finds some really wonderful ones for me when he is out on his trips, and I can always expect a couple really pretty ones just as a little reminder that he was thinking about me out there. It's a little thing, but I really cherish it and love when he finds shells for my little collection. Now, my little guys are bringing them to me too :)
Ha, Ha, Joss, this will make a great shot for your wedding montage one day :)
Found this poor butterfly and its broken wings one day. Made me sad that I didn't know Butterfly 911. It was really neat to see one so close though. I love this photo Dallas took too.
I just love close up shots of stuff like this. Tiny parts of things that up close look really cool! Shows how amazing God's detail and creation truly is.
I had to adjust Joss' bed rail too. He was still able to slide off of the shorter one I had on here before. He hasn't slipped out of this one, and I doubt he will.
Alrighty... it is late, my coffee has worn off and my bed is calling my name :) Hope you enjoyed the pics and post!

I always love the pictures and stories. Love the picture of Joss on his bike, great shot! And the closeup of Emit is adorable, he reminds me so much of your dad there. The caterpillar named Cathy, thats so funny, how did they decide on that name? :) And the seashell story....absolutely PRECIOUS!!!!!!! So neat to have a meaningful tradition like that which the boys are picking up on. I love it!
