VBS-- First Time at School

Holy smokes... I can't believe it has been over a month since I have posted. I uploaded a ton of post pictures before I went away mid September, but I never got a chance to work on the posts over there... so now it's time to post, post, post and get caught up :)
My little Super Heroes!
This was back in August, and already feels like a LONG time ago :)
I was talking with a Joss one day and it was one day when he was just being so sweet and listening and talking with me like such a big boy. I said to him something like, "I love it when you act like this with mommy. Why do you think we have some days where you and Emit just don't want to listen and don't want to do anything mommy asks you?" And he very calmly and matter-of-factly told me, "Because I'm a kid, that's what we do!"  I of course laughed and told him he was absolutely correct :)
This really feels like a long time ago. I did two more of these headboards for a lady. I love the simplicity of these headboards and the stained look too.
There was a mission team down from New Jersey around this time and they were doing a VBS for a few hours each morning this week. Joss was old enough to go, but Emit wasn't just yet. Which was fine because I was having a hard enough time letting Joss go. He felt like such a big boy and felt very special that he got to go to his 'very own school away from home'. For me, it might as well have been the first day of school at a public school.
Emit stayed home with daddy so I could help Joss if he needed me. The first few minutes he was pretty shy and wasn't really sure about me leaving. He made me promise that I wouldn't leave and go home (which was less than 3 minutes away) but that I would stay out in the truck in case he needed me. I was a momma of my word and sat in the truck with a good book to read and waited patiently for my little man. He warmed up a few minutes after I snapped this picture and was talking his teacher's ear off while everything else was going on.
I could hear him telling her all about his toys, his little brother Emit, his morning cartoons, and so on :) As the preschooler's were dismissed to go to their room for the morning, he walked right passed me. This was all the acknowledgment I got at that point :)
I was very relieved though. I wanted him to be able to go and do some fun stuff with the kids and teachers and not be too nervous. And he did! He really did awesome. That first morning he asked me if I stayed while he was in 'school' and he was glad I did. When I took him the other days he was all excited to go and didn't need me to stay at all.
Emit got to go hang out and play (with me) on the last day. I tried to sneak outside of the room just to see how Emit would do, and that lasted about 5 minutes and he wanted me back in there. Joss talked for weeks about his special school and wanted to go back there and talked about all the stuff he learned there.
The teachers all adored him and loved his little spirit :) (of course, who wouldn't?)
It was pretty hard on him going from doing something fun each day to not going the next week because he was having so much fun, but once we got started with our own school (coming soon) he seemed to be a little more distracted and a little less distraught.
My least favorite part of the week we did VBS was having to get up and get going by a certain time. It throws so much more chaos into the mix. It makes me appreciate our lifestyle and the choice to homeschool that much more.
Emit wanted so badly to play on the tractor. I need to find out when they cut the grass or when they'll use it so I can take him by there to see it in action.
The boys made lots of little friends this week. Some of them were from the island and some of them were just visiting...but little friends were made!
