If Dallas and I were in to surfing, these little guys would be doing it, I'm sure. Joss has really great balance too. I'm not very good at all, I mostly just end up with a bad case of the giggles and can't function at all. Their friend Charlie invited them over to play one afternoon... this was his backyard :)
Dallas has taken on a lot of the boat repairs for Two Friends and even gave it a new paint job. He was getting it ready for a regatta in Harbour Island, but this weekend we had our first Mini Regatta for the Junior Sailing Club (at least the first one that I was there for).
For a Mini-Regatta, there is still a LOT of work that goes into it. This seems like such a long time ago now too, and when we were still figuring out a lot of stuff with the club. I'm more involved behind the scenes on the computer and in the info department, but Dallas is there all the time. However, from my seat, things seem to be running a little better now. There's still so much to do when you're dealing with boats. It's not like you can just bring a few balls and bats and gloves and play some softball. All the boats have to go in the water, and come out of the water, and all the parts on the boats have to be maintained and, I could go on and on. Luckily, Dallas loves doing this kind of stuff... so it's right up his alley.
The boys had fun being the Race Committee Boat for this day. We got to make announcements on the bull horn and fire the start engine and set the course... all that jazz.
It was chaos every time we fired that little cannon. That thing is LOUD! I made the mistake of bringing Zoe with us this day too, and she freaked out over the cannon. Which I can understand being a little dog and hearing that thing go off. So I tried to make sure the boys covered their ears, I covered Zoe's and I tried to cover mine too. And I wanted a pic of Dallas firing it. Talk about needing a few extra limbs :)
The kids all had a fun time, I think... how about you??
After the Juniors raced, the C Class boats had a race as well. Two Friends looked sharp in their bright orange, as usual. I love this photo with the two boat (yellow and blue) just below sailing with their sails reflecting off the water. Such a pretty day to be on the water!
Never a dull day at the races, for sure!
