Hard Work, but Somebody's Gotta Do It!

With all the littles around, it seems like someone is always having a party. Bouncy Castles are always a hit to keep them active and happy. This was Raelynn's 2nd Birthday out at The Palms at Three Sisters.
As long as we've been here, and as small as our island is... we are still finding new places and seeing new parts of the island that we drive by all the time, but don't take the time to really explore.
The boys next door were given this little jeep toy, and my boys would always take advantage of them being in school to play with it.
This was another "Snorkeling from the Boat" kind of trip up to Staniel Cay. The water was so calm that we could see all kinds of fish and critters below the surface as we were passing over in the boat. I was blown away, and then I was blown away at the fact that I can still be blown away by these things and how great our God truly is!
Stopped for a potty break and stretch in the sand on this little island that had a small gap in the middle. Zoe is always nervous afraid we're going to leave her behind!
Then as if adding icing to the cake, we saw a dolphin a little further up and the sunken airplane. Talk about a nice day at the office :)
Dallas dropped the boys and me off to play on Staniel Cay for the day and get checked into our room and then he was off again to go take care of the resupply that we came up this way for. We were making the most of the trip by spending the night and doing a little of our own exploring.
The boys and I were off to rent a golf cart for the day, a MUST for them if we are in Staniel Cay for any length of time. And of course, I wasn't opposed to the fun outing either ;)
Off we went! I hadn't seen much of the island outside of the area that we frequent so I was anxious to see it for myself. We probably could have driven from one end, all the way back around to the other in 20 minutes time, but we decided to peek and snoop and check out all the little paths. We were also in search of a good beach to play at for a while.
And we found a great one!!!!
It was very similar to the ocean side of Stocking Island, but it was perfect for our day.
Sticky Note Moment:
I am so far behind on my sticky notes and I honestly can't remember what all I have posted from them at this point, but there are a few I am okay with posting twice just so I don't forget to post it. This is one...
Around this time in school we had listened to a song of the Golden Gate Bridge and the boys were asking me questions about. So we started talking about it and then I thought it could be fun to watch a little video about the bridge and learn some fun little facts. Funny me, I thought it would be okay to just do a quick search on YouTube for one and just watch it. If anything, I figured I would find a video a little too boring for them so it might take a minute to find a good one. Well, I found a video and it was showing really pretty footage of people walking across the bridge at different times of the day with pretty lighting and all... Then all of a sudden a guy climbs up on the rail and jumps off the bridge, then another, then another... so the one video I had found on the Golden Gate Bridge to show my children was a video documenting all the suicides committed off the bridge each year.
MOMMY TEACHING MOMENT FAIL! However, I did decided to use that moment to talk to them about why people might do that, and how important it is for people to have Jesus in their heart so they don't feel so alone and desperate. But we did talk about that bridge video for a while after that. Lesson learned--I will always preview a video on YouTube before showing it to my kids!
Back to our "Staniel Cay Day of Fun!" (said in my best Janice voice from Friends)
When Dallas was finished and heading back, he called us and we swung back around to pick him up. We still had some daylight hours and plenty of battery left on the cart... so we had to go show Daddy all the places we saw.
Above you see a photo of their hospital... which is just a little bit smaller than ours here in George Town (for now.. the new one is coming!) and you also see the inside of one of their main food stores. No Publix, Winn Dixie, Wal-Mart types stores in the out-islands folks.
We took Daddy to 'Our Beach' and then went for a drive by the runway and gave the boys lots of turns driving the cart. They LOVED that part. Emit was actually really good at staying in the middle of the road. Joss decided he wanted to lead us along the way by running up ahead.
Lovely view from our room as the sun was going down. If only the power lines weren't there. But I am thankful for the electricity too.  The next morning we took the cart back, walked along the runway/road to meet back up with Daddy back at the boat and then we headed back home. Another Great trip to Staniel Cay in the books!
Back at home, the boys find way to enjoy helping me at work.
And Daddy's off on another adventure!
Giving a little lesson on Poison Wood and what plant to be on the lookout for out there in the bush! Don't get the sap on you... it'll itch just like poison ivy.
