Name, Nassau and Nonsense...

Alrighty, thanks to all of you that voted in our little poll for names :) We were encouraged by what we saw. Of course, we've had our favorite for a while, but I started second guessing myself (as usual) and wanted to see what other's thought. Based on the poll, Eli came in first, however, Dallas and I both like Emit Jacn Knowles the best, and have for a while. So... that's what we're going with :)

We've been in Nassau for a week now. Seems like it's been a lot longer already, but that's it. Things are going fine, but being away from home always makes it difficult to really get into a routine of things. Joss is doing great and sleeping well. Papa & Nana Knowles (Andy & Nancy) actually got little air conditioning unit installed in his little room last week so he could sleep in there and be nice and cool. He was sleeping in the room with us and doing fine, but this will help when Emit comes along and is waking a lot through the night so he won't disturb Joss. We were very thankful that they did that!

Dallas has been working with the swim club throughout the week with their summer camp and club workouts...so he's been nice and busy with that. Joss and I go to the pool some, but not for every workout. He is getting so comfortable in the water now. We actually got him some little water wings and tried them out on him a few days ago. I stick close to him, but he can kick around and move a little with those on, and seems to like the "freedom". We're working on his bubbles now so he'll get used to breathing out under the water. It's pretty cool to watch him pick up on things and learn stuff like this (just like anything they learn).

Now for the "nonsense"...I had my first visit to the clinic here in Nassau. I am transferring from Exuma, so I have to go through a few extra steps to get registered here... nothing that hard, just time consuming. Well, I got to the clinic at 8am and didn't leave until 1:30pm. Dallas was watching Joss, but it was a pretty miserable morning for me sitting and waiting around that long. And then when I finally did get in to see the doctor, he was not the most encouraging man I've met.

Here's the thing.... for me, I felt like having to have a c-section the first time around with Joss was a let down and almost a failure on my part. I'm not at all saying that I think women that choose to have c-sections take the easy way out.. the Lord knows that the recovery from one is NOT an easy thing at all. I just know that in my mind my whole pregnancy with Joss I had envisioned the whole labor and delivery going one way, and it ended up totally different. And for me that was a disappointment. I have tried not to do that this time around, and prepare myself for another c-section, but planning to try to do it natural at least. Well, this doctor pretty much shot that idea down over and over today. He almost acted like it's unheard of for a woman to have a natural birth after a c-section, and I know that's not true. I heard what he was saying, and I trying to think through things right now to see what I would like to PLAN for now. I just get tired of everyone having an opinion on how I should or shouldn't go through with it. Whether it's a doctor, a stranger, or someone in between. It just gets frustrating. There are pros and cons to both ways obviously, so we'll see what happens when it comes down to it.
Well, I've finally managed to get a few pics loaded on Phanfare (or they are uploading at least) so I apologize for the delay in those (mostly to my mom, because I know you don't like it when I go so long in between putting up pics) :) Hope you enjoy them!

Hope you are all doing well!!

I COMPLETELY know what you're talking about with the "advice" everyone and their brother has to offer with your birth plan.
I'm fixin' to blog about that very soon. It makes me want to pull my hair out! Agh!!!!!

I'm sorry that your doctor is not working with you the way you want him to! Rachel had to have a c-section with her first too (but she was expecting it since the baby was double breach). I'm not sure if she's going to try to go without one next time, but her doctor might not let her either since it took her a very long time to recover. I hope you have peace with whatever ends up happening!
