Sleep deprivation is not my friend!

If you've ever had a baby... you know that you really cannot count on much sleep those first few weeks. I want to punch people in the face that tell me their newborns slept through the night from the start. I know it happens... but when you can't see straight because you haven't slept longer than 2 hours at a time for weeks at a time, that's the last thing you want to hear.
The lack of sleep still doesn't seem to be hitting me AS hard this time around as it did with Joss, but it definitely doesn't help me. When both of the boys are in fussy moods at the same time.. I just feel like my nerves are on edge the whole time. The other day at a rough moment I just had to yell to release some tension. Once Joss realized I wasn't saying "aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh" at him he joined in yelling with me and then by the time I had run out of breath I was smiling :) If only it worked like that every time. But then of course as soon as they do something really cute or are sleeping I immediately feel bad for getting frustrated. Dallas has been AWESOME lately. Or as we say a lot, "Awesome Joss-ome, Extra Awesome!" (a little take on a quote from The Office). He has done so much to help out. Especially, with Joss. It makes me really sad sometimes when I am busy with Emit and Dallas is doing something with Joss; I just get to missing all the time I had with him before. But I know it's going to be sooo much fun when Emit is a little older too.
So, once again had to move our equipment. This time it is a little more permanent, but required a lot of extra work. We had to clear the land and pack the road a bit... and we still have a lot of work to do here, but the gear is moved and setup now.
Joss has had a good time watching the bulldozers and trucks moving things around. He's got a lot of room to run around out here and look at the boats and kayaks now. But of course it's very messy, but he doesn't seem to mind.
Emit is usually content to go along for the ride and be outside a bit. He doesn't like getting too hot though, which is tough to do when I'm trying to keep him shielded from the sun too. So far we've done well though not to get too much sun.

I couldn't resist putting a picture of the peanut shell being put to use once again. This was one of my favorite items with Joss, and we definitely got our use out of it that time around. He rode around in it until he was one at least. Now Emit seems to like it just as much, and definitely likes to be held A LOT :)
One of Joss' little things right now is playing with Snarf and Joy (our cats). They must have felt neglected this summer while they were locked away in the back room in Nassau, because they don't seem to mind too much when he comes running up to them and jumps on them or whacks them or something rough like that. He calls both of them "nar-ss" (his version of Snarf). He hasn't even attempted to say Joy, which would be so much easier... but we like Nars!

Another fun Joss-ism right now is his love of the book "Go Dogs. Go!" We have definitely read that book enough that he knows lots of the pages and can pretty much (in his own way) tell us what's going on. So for those of you that don't read it on a daily basis.. I'll fill you in on one that is our favorite right now. The page goes like this:
"Hello!
Hello.
Do you like my hat?
I do not like that hat.
Good-bye!
Good-by."
It's Dr. Seuss... don't ask me :) But anyway-- that's one of Joss' favorites because they repeat that scene a few times throughout the book. So Joss does it with us by saying, "Hello...Hat?...Nooooooo...Bye!" Once I get a good one on video of this I will post it... we love it!
Emit is doing his own little things too, but they just aren't as detailed :) He's growing like crazy just like Joss did. Look at that little belly above! He has smiled at us a few times which is always sweet. I LOVE the little no-teeth, gummy smiles, they are so cute. He's getting better at the "baby gas". He doesn't get quite as upset as he did the first couple weeks. Liz, I can't help but to wonder how this is going for you with Margot :) are you traumatized by it yet?

Emit LOVES to be in his swing. I wish the thing could be plugged in instead of running on batteries, but it's an expense we will endure for now in order to keep him happy :) He really is a sweet baby. I tell Dallas that Joss was just as fussy, but when he was this age Dallas was at work from 9-5 so he missed a lot of it, and I was able to hold Joss all he wanted to at this age. It's a little harder to do that this time around, but Emit is getting better each day. He just likes to be cuddling and have you focused on him (what baby doesn't?).

Last little Joss-ism for this post then I'll let you go :) He has learned to "knock-knock" on a door. The way he knocks is so cute. He runs over to O'Neil's (or as Joss calls him 'Neil') place next door whenever he is outside and says "nah, knock" and knocks on the door until they answer it.
WE love our little boys and if you can't tell it we are pretty amazed with them each day. I've got a bucket full of stories on stuff they do. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!!

Things ARE getting a little easier around here each week... thank goodness!
Margot is smiling now too, and it makes all those fussy times fade away.
I think we might be hitting a growth spurt right now. She nursed all day today, and just seems ravenous!
Last week, at 6.5 weeks she weighed 7 pounds 13 oz. We're hoping for the big 8 this week!
Have so much fun in Alabama. It's amazing having the grandparents there. Enjoy every minute of it!
Love you.

Hey TT. I'm sending you an e-hug right now.
I wanted to Skype with you, Bev, and the babies. But we just ran out of time, didn't we?
Love you, friend!
