It's been a little while since I've posted... so this one has lots of pics :) I don't have the "pressure" to post when I have my biggest fans (Mom and Bev) here with me living the stories that I usually put on here. They were here with us from the 12th-19th, and it was a very nice treat to have them here.
For me it takes such a load off of my mind having two extra sets of eyes and hands helping with the boys. It's also exhausting on one hand because the extra energy I have goes straight to work. But it was really nice having them here, and at a much needed (busy) time.
Dallas was out on a kayaking trip with 16 teenagers, 2 crazy chaperons and 1 other guide the week they were here. He was very glad to get off the water after that trip. But it was short lived...he turned right back around and left again 2 days later on a "sailing trip". I put that in quotes because it wasn't a traditional one, but he had a great time on that trip. He just got home today actually.
But anyway--back to the week with CC & Bev. Joss and Emit got spoiled to lots of fun times and goodies with them. This frog here is Emit's "Big Bear" equivalent. Joss sleeps with his Big Bear, Hippo and his blanket (and the occassional train or plane, or even kayak pump) every night. So I wanted Emit to have something too. He has Moe (his monkey from Bev) and his blanket from CC too, but this is his new one :) I LOVE IT!!!! Great job, Bev!
He doesn't quite sleep with Frog yet, but he enjoys rolling around on him and playing with him. Joss loves playing with the BIG FROG too. He'll go and pull him down off of Emit's crib rail and take him in the room, put him on the floor and then lay on him and say "Ahhhhh, Joss sleep".
One of Joss' new toys is his little train set :) He seems to like this a lot which is alwas fun to see. The first couple of nights he didn't want to say good-night to the train, but he's gotten used to it being out and ready as soon as he wakes up :) The other day I picked it up and put it in a basket and the first thing he said when we came out for some chocolate milk was "Where train doe? 'Mere train!"
Emit, as you know if teething, and one thing my sister and I both teethed on was beef jerky. Joss got to chew on some a bit too, but Emit really likes it :) See...
I KNOW for a fact that CC had fun spending time with her boys. Whether they were playing in the room, riding on the back of the truck down the driveway, walking on the beach looking for turtles, snuggling up for some Back-Backs or Planes, playing on the big slide.... get the point?? :) Good times were had by all.
Joss is trying to say EMIT nowadays, instead of "It". However, most times it comes out sounding like Em-Bit...but it's soo cute. It's sad how some of his cute little nicknames are starting to change so quickly. Everyday it's something new, but he still keeps us laughing with his new ones too.
He's so considerate too. He's always offering up sips of his juice or bites of his snacks. If I stub my toe or get bitten by Emit (ouch) or something stupid that hurts and say OW or make some kind of painful sound he'll come up to me, put his hand on my cheek and say "Alright Mom?" Somehow.. that makes it feel much better very quickly :)
One of my mom's bags showed up late down here and when we were at the airport trying to give them directions to our new house we found out what many folks call the road we live on..."Conchy Joe Lane" (conchy is pronounced: konky). I had to have Dallas explain that one to me again because at first I thought it just meant White Bahamians, which would be fitting for where we live now... lots of powerful business owners (most of which are white, Bahamians) live down this road. However, Dallas explained to me that "White Bahamians" is usually used in the context of a rich, white Bahamian. Conchy Joe is the term applied to native Bahamians that happen to be white and are natural fisherman, swimmers, boaters, etc. Which for me sounds much better :) For you Bahamians reading this...let me know if I'm way off. I like that even better though because the Bahamians that live on this road are all like that, and we feel like we're tucked away in a special little community down here.
While mom and Bev were here Joss started calling me MOMMY instead of just Mom. It sounds so cute. I hear "Hi Mommy" about 300 times a day. Whenever he's playing or bored or really happy or just trying to stay awake he'll say it :) And he usually says it a couple times in a row. While they were here he had a few more folks to add in there, but you could always count on it: "Hi CC, Hi Bev, Hi Mommy, Hi Bev, Hi CC..." And you have to respond to him.
Bev taught him a new trick this week. He now knows how to "Pound it" (fist bump). She added a nice little explosion with her hand at the end of it that Joss just loves. Now I catch him saying "Poun-it" on bumping his fists together then doing the explosion thing too. I cracked up so much when I saw him doing it the first time by himself. It's almost like he was saying "Bev's not here, who am I gonna pound it with? Ooo look, I can pound it myself!"
CC is very proud of Joss' "Aww Eadle" (War Eagle) by the way! But what Auburn fan wouldn't be :) Poppy (my dad-aka Bama fan)isn't so happy, but he still loves to hear Joss say it too. Joss was asking all week where his Poppy was. He loves pointing to him in the pictures and saying "Hi Poppy!"
Dallas and his little bandmates. I tried getting me a shirt too, but they were sold out when I looked for mine. Emit is crawling now.. well scooting and doing an army crawl, but either way-- he gets around. However, he ends up going backwards most of the time. We were playing in their room the other day and Emit started up in the middle of the mat, and this is where he ended up (below).

Wish we were still hanging out with you and the boys - it was a week of fun and adventure!!! I love Emit under the crib - lol :0) He has such a powerful smile - you know he's happy when he flashes you with his dimples!!! I can see Jossy "pounding" his fist - very cute indeed... I'm glad you had a soothing week and enjoyed the boys :0) We love you all and are glad Dallas is home for now!
Thanks for the Blog - whether I was there or not, I still love the way you put them together.
Hugs and kisses, CC
Great post Tamara. Man did I get ripped off! Worked all week and missed the "Joss and Emit Show". Can't wait for our next visit with you, Dallas and the boys. Keep posting the memories-I love them all.
Love-Poppy
Great Post!!! My favorite thing was seeing where Emit ended up after his crawling adventure. I know exactly what you mean about not liking "ME" sometimes, but with prayers and getting back to the basics I bounce back. Looks like you had a great visit with the Family. Keep having fun!!!
yay!! I've been waiting on the post from CC and Bev's visit! So many great pictures I can't even choose a favorite. I wish they were both in my lap right now so I could squeeze them. They both have the sweetest smiles that always make my eyes get all misty.
Tamara- you are such an amazing mother! I bet hearing Joss say "mommy" is the sweetest thing you have ever heard! I take mental notes from how you do things and I learn so much from you! Love you!!!
