"You dittle it!!" (You did it)

"We're back, baby!" As fun as it is to get off the rock and see family...it's always nice to be back in our own home after a time away. We had a good trip. The sleeping was definitely tough on the boys, but they are recouping well and getting back in their routine. As we were traveling I kept my "sticky notes" in my pocket on a little piece of paper. Joss was doing some pretty funny things and some of them I know I will forget until something happens to remind me...but a few of them I jotted down so I would remember to share them :)
So let's see, our trip was basically like this: a week in Nassau, then we flew up to my folks in Jacksonville (Alabama), spent a week in Birmingham, AL leading up to Bev's wedding (don't worry... I'll get some pics up of this too) then another week and a couple days back at my folks' place in Jacksonville. Lots of moving around, but the boys were troupers.

When we landed in Atlanta after our long delay in Fort Lauderdale it was about midnight. Joss hadn't slept all day and was just kind of in a zombie state when we first got in the car. He quickly snapped out of it when we started driving though. He wasn't going to miss a thing and started spotting everything. His biggest fascination that night was the strip of green lights down Camp Creek Parkway (for those of you familiar with Atlanta). Everytime we went under one he would say, "oh, almost hit it!" Then after a couple days in Birmingham and waiting at the red lights he learned to say "Go GREEN, Go!" whenever we saw one. Ahhhh... the little things :) It probably goes without saying that we don't have any stop lights on our island. We have one or two stop signs.

Before we ever left on our trip, me and Joss and Emit had this one afternoon at the beach together that was just really sweet for some reason. When we were leaving the beach I asked Joss to say "Bye beach, thanks for a good afternoon!" and that phrase just stuck with him whenever we did anything fun. It doesn't matter what time of day or what activity we do. For instance when we would land and leave the airplane he would say "Bye plane, thanks good afternoon" (he always leaves out 'for a'). Or "Bye slide, thanks good afternoon". Even when we would get him out of bed first thing in the morning he would say to the screensaver on my parent's computer that is an underwater scene with fish swimming around, "Bye fish, thanks good afternoon."

While we were staying with Bev in B'ham she took Joss to the train tracks by her place to see some "Real trains." I'm sure by now you can tell how much this little guy loves trains, so he was over the moon about this outting. Every single day after that he asked to "Go see some real trains." There was no distracting him from this. Especially after his real train ride with my folks. That was a huge hit! He is still asking to see some real trains now that we're back home, but I think he understands when I say "Baby, we don't have any real trains down here" because he doesn't keep pressing the issue like he did when we were close to them. Maybe he can sniff them out or something :)
(These were some of his play buddies at THAT Green Slide at CC & Poppy's house-- the frog and squirrel liked the slide too apparently!)

He has started really showing some dancing moves to his little songs and shows lately. One of his favorite dancing songs is on a Veggietales of "Dave and the Giant Pickle". He just says "Giant Pickle" when he's in the mood to do his little dance. Here's his Polar Express Dance for ya... it's a little different from the Giant Pickle, but it's pretty cute too.

He had a ball playing with the dogs on our trip. He had Snorkel & Jet in Nassau and then Dumplin & Buddy at my parent's place. He would call them "Little Dumpwin" and "Big Dumpwin" though for the first couple of days. :)

We always try to spend a little time playing with my cousin's kids whenever we go to Bama. Joss loves all the action and Jake is the same age as him.. so it's fun to see them doing different things. You'll notice this shot of the lake that these little country kids are playing in. Well, I'm pretty sure Dallas insulted my mom and uncle when he said, "please don't let Joss swim in there." I myself have been swimming in there, and for those of you that have ever been kids in the country you can probably say the same for a place like this. He wasn't being a snob, mom. It made him a little nervous in all reality, because you just can't see anything that you're swimming in. When you get used to these crystal clear waters that we have down here, it's easy to get spoiled. Joss didn't seem to keen on getting in there anyways...so I guess it's a pointless topic, but I just wanted to clear that up :) (I personally found it pretty funny!)

When I was little I used to tell my mom and dad, "I love you...from da sky to da moon!" Not really sure where I got that from, but it stuck. So I've been telling Joss, "Mommy loves you from the sky to the moon!" And I'm working on getting him to answer with that when I say "How much does mommy love you?" The other day I was putting him down for his nap and talking really softly and he just looked at me and said "sky to moon" really lovingly. I like to think that was his way of saying, "I love you Mommy!"

Until next time...

It's always great to see family... and THAT IS THE COOLEST TRAIN DANCE EVER! Sounds like you guys had a nice trip.

About your saying "i love you from da sky to da moon" did you ever read the book "I love you Goodnight" by Jon Buller and Susan Schade? We read that one all the time with the girls and the last words are...

"I love you like the moon at night: big and round and warm and bright, I love you, good night!
