Almost here...

I can't believe this time last year I was getting ready to go to the hospital to have Emit! I still can't believe the experience he and I had at the hospital, so I am not sad at all that we are "here and now" instead of then "there and then". Joss looks so little and I just love his little pouty lips in this picture :) I am so proud of this little guy. He has taken on the role of big brother so well. From this very first night he and I ever spent apart until now he has been wonderful. Emit has blossomed in to quite the little fella over this past year. My next post has LOTS of pictures, so I'll try to write my little "birthday message" here. 

Right now Emit is right at 20 lbs and 28.5 inches tall. He has eight little teeth. He LOVES food. The more grown up it is, the more he wants it. One of his favorite snacks is apples. He can't quite eat them yet... so he usually ends up with chunks of apples piled up under his chin or on his tummy. If he sees me with one, he will make his little "hungry sound" until I give him some. He also loves crackers. If he has one in his mouth, he'll beg you until he has two more in his hands :) He is very clingy to Mommy these days. He likes being around new people, but he likes it even more if he's in my arms to enjoy their company. He is literally chasing after Joss these days and trying to keep up with him. Joss is thoroughly enjoying his little play buddy (unless of course he tries to steal the toy he's playing with at the time). 

He is sleeping much better these days. Most nights he goes down with Joss around 6:30-7:00pm and sleeps until 6:30-7:00am (wonderful!). He and Joss love being in the same room with each other. As you remember from a few posts before... their nap routine is quite the little show.

Emit's tickle spot is right next to his collar bone and under his chin (on his neck). He'll hold in his laugh for as long as he can and then it just bursts out when he can't take it anymore. He laughs very easily at his big brother when he's being silly. Emit loves to gently push us from behind to get us running or walking. Then he loves to be chased and followed around. When he's in the tub, he loves to play with the stopper or an empty bubble bottle that he uses to make funny noises. His favorite toys right now are probably these little oranges that are in a collection of small rubber toys, any remote control he can get his hands on, and any toy that Joss is playing with :) 

Kisses: Ahhhh, I LOVE getting kisses from Emit right now. When I'm holding him I'll look at him and say, "kiss, kiss" and pucker my lips. He'll look at me (I guess to make sure he heard me right or something) and open his little mouth and lean in for a nice slobbery kiss :) It is really the cutest little thing! I just love it. Between him giving such sweet kisses and hearing Joss saying "I love you, too!" my heart could just about melt into a puddle. I love, Love, LOVE having affectionate babies and I hope they stay that way!

He has been saying "Momma" & "Dadda" for a while now, but lately we'll catch little bits of what sounds like could be words. He says "Uh-Oh!" a lot when he drops a toy or something like that which I think is really cute. When he and Joss are really being silly... Emit will start shaking his head back and forth and say, "ahhhhh" with his eyes squeezed shut. When he stops and looks to see if everyone is still watching, or to see if Joss is going to copy him, he'll smile and do it again :)

I can't believe you are already ONE. You are such a sweet little blessing in our lives. Your brother, Joss, has loved you from the moment we brought you home from the hospital. I pray that you two grow up together and become the best of friends. You have made our little family complete and we can't imagine our lives without you. You have such a sweet personality. Thank you for giving Mommy all her "kiss, kisses" and letting us squeeze on you all the time. I pray that you are healthy and happy as you grow up. I also pray that you learn at a young age how important it is to Know the Lord. We love you little man and are so proud of you! Happy Birthday (or almost birthday) Sweet Boy!
