Busy Being Boys

I love the admiration in Emit's eyes here in this picture above, and I just love all the 'mess' in the background... no pretending here, I'm not a perfect housekeeper by any means. But I doubt you ever got that impression in my photos :) Emit just loves his big brother though, but he has a rough little way of 'playing' right now. He just hauls off and throws everything at us. Whether he is 10 feet from us or 2 inches... that's how he plays. OUCH! And when I tell him "NO" in my momma voice... he just looks at me and laughs (what's a gal to do?) :)
I love these guys and their sweet smiles. With Joss riding a bike around more, it has made me very cautious around stairs. When I was about his age (I believe), I tried riding my little bike up some stairs and ended up knocking out some of my teeth. They took a WHILE to grow back in, so I had a nice little gap or at least one missing tooth for a long time. So one day I decided to let Joss know about that little story when he was wanting to ride his bike down our stairs on the porch. I think I've drilled it in to him by now because when I ask him, "what happens if we ride our bike down the stairs?" he responds with, "knock my teeth out...ouch!"
iPood :)
I've been going through all of Joss' old cold weather clothes to see what all Emit can wear when we go to Bama in a couple weeks and we came across these little boots. He just would not be happy unless he had them on, and he wore them all that morning :)
We are trying to teach Joss how to ask nicely for things. Like when he would like to borrow one of the toys from the boys next door or when he would like some blue chips, etc. He knows how to say please pretty well, but now that he's talking in fuller sentences we've been trying to work on asking the full questions, "Can I please play with that car?" and so on. Usually when I say to him, "Can you ask nicely?" his reply is "Ask?" :) I can't help but to smile because he does say the word 'ask' really nicely.
We've moved the boat to her new parking spot at a dock in Georgetown where it is sheltered from the weather and wind much better. It is right in the heart of town, so we have placed locks and chains and prayed over this dock A LOT, and will continue to do so. Whenever we go out on her, Joss will proudly exclaim, "I LIKE MY BOAT!" :)
My sweet Emit, Pretty in Pink!
I just love this shot of him!!
Snack of the day--Graham Crackers! But in another couple days... they won't want anything to do with these. I'm really having a hard time coming up with a variety of 1) food they will eat and 2) food we can get down here.
I'm still working through my lessons on the new camera. I've been doing my homework this week of leaving it on Manual mode for an entire week without using the AUTO mode. I've learned a lot, but still have a long ways to go. I still have to get the shutter speed fast enough to capture these little guys without blurring on me and staying at the right aperture so it's not too dark or too light. I'm sure Erika & Heather & Robert (and probably a few more of my camera savvy friends reading this) know how to do this, but I need to learn hands on or else it won't stick... so I'm trying not to bug all my friends for info :)
This shot of Emit above is really bright, but I kind of like the effect. It was really bright this afternoon, but he looks like my little angel :) And I just love his face on the one below with the seaweed. LOL You can see in this photo how rough the water is with the storms that just came through. This was where we had the boat originally anchored, and had to move quickly when this came through.
Rolling in the sand... does it get any better???
Hippo has still been included in every little thing lately. The other day Joss made me laugh so hard when he pulled up his shirt and put Hippo to his chest and said "Feeding Hippo like mommy!" :) He is so smart!! I don't even nurse Emit much these days (only at night when he's going to bed). I just love to see him picking up on things and using them throughout the day. When Hippo was thirsty...he gave him a drink :)
We had a fun work day the other day that I posted about on our Out-Island Explorers blog with lots of photos... if you're interested, check it out.
Dallas is in love with this boat. He doesn't even mind changing dirty diapers on the boat :)
Emit was ready for some Mommy time in this shot, but Joss wanted some Daddy hugs :)
The boys had fun exploring new things and were really great for our 70 mile trip in the boat! Until next time...

Cute boys! Joss looks so grown up to me all of the sudden. I love the "ipood" shirt!

How can cute keep getting cuter??? They are always such great models and you capture such sweet moments! Love them playing together, watching dad feed the Iguanas is crazy, and Joss sharing his "juice!" I know you are all enjoying the boat and it's great to see all the new places you are exploring! Love to all :0)

LOVE this post! I can tell you are already learning so much about your camera! I hope you are enjoying it! You are getting good at shooting with a big aperture (small #).
I love that picture of Emit in the boots. His face there is SO sweet!
When I read the thing about the graham crackers and them getting tired of things I immediately thought of this...(see link below). Maybe something fun to do that will keep them interested in the ingredients you have on hand.
