Owee's, toys, and tales

Emit has learned how to "ask" for things he wants now. I love how he sticks his little arm out. He always looks down at it to make sure he's holding it right :) This shot below is a typical scene around these parts. One of the boys wanting or asking for a toy that the other one has. Some how I believe that if there were two exact toys for each toy we had... they would still figure out a way to want the toys that the other one is playing with. Just part of the game I suppose :) Sharing food is not an issue by any means. They are both very good with sharing food.
I love the shot of Joss below playing with his toys. His little imagination is really growing. He'll talk to his toys and have them interact with him so much. It is really cute to sit back and listen to him. He definitely talks to and has emotion for a lot inanimate objects. I can take credit for this, I think. We'll tell the "engines" to sleep tight and stay warm when we put the covers over them, we'll talk to the truck if it's making noises that we don't like and tell it to feel better soon, etc. I think this goes back to a little story that my sister and I have gotten laughs over before (see if you remember this, Bev?).
When I was little I would frequently visit the artificial flower aisle at our local wal-mart. I would go there and just play with them and talk to them, and one time when I was leaving I got really sad and started crying because I couldn't take them all home. I was telling them all that I was sorry and I would come and see them again soon. I know, I know... probably not a thing to admit publicly... but I've always done things like that and had really strong attachments to my stuffed animals and cars and things like that. I love it that Joss is, at least in this stage, a lot like me in that way :)
Emit is so funny when he eats these days. He will shovel the entire cracker or piece of bread, or whatever we're eating in his mouth in one big scoop. Then his little cheeks look like a chipmunk and he'll smile really big and just has food everywhere in there. It's so funny. It makes me nervous because I don't want him to choke, so we watch him closely...but it's really pretty funny. And then of course if I start bringing him some more juice or milk and he sees his bottle, well there's just no time to eat and finish swallowing, so he spits it all out so he can drink right away. Gotta time it just right so we don't get this mess :)

We've been out to the northern end of the island a lot lately since that is where our trips launch from. We're going to have to go out one day at a good time of day (when they aren't tired or something) and take some more pictures. I think it is one of the cutest settlements on the island. It's so green and quaint out there. Very small, but so pretty. Katie, maybe we can plan our little cookout with you guys out that way soon!!
Whenever we go to launch a trip, we have to walk to the "bumpy slide" to play for a bit after the long ride out there. Here the boys are showing me the way to the slide :)

Emit was trying to be big like his brother and climb on the stairs. I was a nervous wreck of course. And it seems I had good reason to be. He had a little mishap on the bottom stairs and I was a second too late in grabbing him....OWEEEEE. Poor little guy scratched his face all up. It looks 110% better already, but it broke my heart. He was a tough little booger though.
 See the evidence below :(
Joss woke up screaming the other night around 3am and I went in to check on him. He was all huddled up in the corner of his crib saying something about the "Big scary hermit crab" getting him. It was so sad. I was trying to console him, but it took him a little while to calm down. I think this is only something a kid living near the beach would have nightmares about :)
We had our friend John C. bring down a bike for Joss' birthday next month when he came. I wasn't sure we'd be back to the states before his b-day, so we wanted to make sure. Well, it has been disassembled in our closet since John came. Joss has caught a glimpse of it a few times and the other day he was in the truck saying, "Oh no, bike broke!" I said, "No, baby, your bike is fine it's not broken" (talking about his little tricycle he rides around). He said, "Yeah, yeah, it's broken. It's my birthday, yeah! I like 'sents' (as in presents)!" :) I think that surprise has been ruined. But he's also been dropping very obvious hints that he needs a big boy bike now. He's not even 3 and he already knows how to drop hints about toys he wants and 'needs' :)
Emit every now and then gets really nervous running around in the yard outside. If we're in the driveway (and it's not too chaotic) he's fine, but venturing off the road in to the 'big, scary woods' is different. He's brave and strong as long as he has a hand to hold along the way :)

Alright then, I wanted to get some photos and blogging caught up before I head to Bama and start taking tons of pictures, I'm sure, so mission accomplished. We will be leaving for the airport in about 45 minutes!! I'm so excited to try this new direct route on Delta straight from here to Atlanta... going to be soooo great not to have any connections. And since Dallas has to stay here to work (thank you Lord for the work), I'll be flying on my own with the boys for the first time. I think they'll do fine for me... but the direct flight definitely makes me 'braver' :) Thanks again to CC & Poppy (my mom and dad) for the plane tickets! We wouldn't be coming without your help. Love you guys and see you in just a few short hours!!!!
