I haven't had a ton of time to take photos lately. We've still been doing lots of running around outside and playing, but I don't seem to have the freedom to have my hands on the camera right now :) I'm more interested in keeping boys out of the road on their bikes, off the railing around the porch (or holding on to them so they can climb on it), walking through the trails to see the 'Dragon Holes' around our house, or something like that. I have got a few video clips to share though. Emit is at such a fun stage of learning to talk and testing out all his words and actions.
Did you by chance catch the way he says "thank you" right now? Most of the time it comes out sounding like "cheeky" or "cheeky-u", and I think it is so sweet! He knows when to say it and how to use it and is catching on to things so quickly. One of my favorite Emit tricks is "squeezes". A couple weeks ago I started telling him to SQQQUUUEEEZZE me and I'd wrap his arms around my neck and make the squeeze sound. So now I'll say "Give momma some squeezes" and he'll squeeze whatever he's holding and make a little grunting sound.
Joss loves playing little games on the iTouch that Bev gave me a while ago. He is so stinking smart, and he can figure out how to switch games and start a level over and navigate around the thing really well. It's a big help on our long rides out to Barretarre or on the plane these days. He is really quite content to jump around from game to game and entertain himself with it. Now it has to be a special treat though because he wants to play it all the time.
One thing the boys get so excited over is when we lay down in the floor for play time. They could be playing and doing their own thing, but if they see us lay down in the floor it is like a magnet for them to come and climb and jump and crawl and hug and play on top of us. The looks on their faces when they first see us laying on the floor is priceless. You would think it was a cool new toy or something like that each time we do it.
The other day we were outside as usual and Joss was getting a bit bored. So I asked him if he wanted to play with a snake. His eyes lit up and he was very excited at the idea. So we snuck through the 'jungle' and captured a super long snake (aka the water hose). He wasn't a bad snake though, he was a good snake, and he was our friend (according to Joss). He gave him a hug and kisses and was carrying the snake all around. Then we wanted to see a trick the snake could do....
The snake could spit out water!!!!! :) all over the place. Joss asked the snake to help him make "MUD!" Joss' way of saying mud is really cute. The snake helped us make a big puddle and then splashed all around in the mud with us. Joss was having a blast and then his face and hands got muddy and he got mad. Then he was happy again, then mad again... then we went in for our baths :)
Emit didn't care who or water made the mud, or where he got it... he just enjoyed getting messy and muddy and running around half naked!
Yesterday, most of you know, was Dallas' birthday! He got some new speakers for the boat and a whole shipment of stuff from his grandparents in Nassau. They recently sold their boat, and gave the whole family dibs at getting the goodies that were getting emptied off the boat. Nobody else really jumped at it, so he flew to Nassau the other day to go through everything and see what we could use. Some of the hot items in the bunch include: 25 spears, 3 fish traps, 3 sets of skis, 2 tubes, a whole bundle of deep sea fishing poles, TONS of tools that we will both get use out of (and compliment the collection my folks gave him for Christmas very well), flashlights, VHF radios, extension cords, knives, hatchets.... the list goes on and on, but we are thrilled and can't wait to share it with the rest of the family when they come to visit.
Part of his birthday included a surprise dinner on a beach with a nice bonfire for the two of us (I tried to take some pics... but I don't think they turned out very well), and then early this morning he and Joel headed out to do some trolling before the sun came up. I think it is safe to say he was having a good time :)
Not a bad way to start off your 31st year in my book :)

Glad to hear Dallas enjoyed his birthday! I love the videos of the boys and I'm not sure which is cuter - Emit pumping his arm to hear trucks honk or him pointing to the moon :0) (Glad it still sparks an interest for Joss too!) Both are so adorable!!! Emit calling out for Poppy is precious and I love him saying Sheshh - he is growing much to fast. Hugs and squeezes for them both...
Just watched the videos again! I could smothered Emit with kisses and hugs when he's telling you the names of the trains - working hard to get his pacy back - saying, "thank you!!!" How smart and sweet...
I'd say Dallas had quite the birthday!
And your kids seem to have had a blast playing in the mud out front too! That's comical to say the least :)
PS - we're talking up the Bahamas up here...
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pictures, the videos, & the stories! Sis you are a natural Blogger and I love it. I am so glad! Thanks for working so hard to keep us in the loop. The boys are growin sooooooo fast. See you in 52 days!!! Yay!!! Love you all. Give those babies some kisses from Aunt Bev.
Every post I keep thinking "I can't believe how fast Emit is growing!". Joss is growing and changing fast too, but I just can't believe how fast Emit is changing and how he keeps up with whatever Joss is doing! Its just amazing! I LOVE the pics of them playing in the mud. Mason can't wait to play in the mud with his cousins!!!!!!
