A few weeks back (yep, I'm still trying to catch up) Dallas needed help with an upcoming sailing trip. We keep getting into a last minute scramble searching for someone to help him on the trips. We have people lined up months in advance because we know the trips are coming, and then they keep backing out at the last minute. ARGH.. It's very frustrating, but at least we have a lot of good friends and family that are willing to get flown down on our dime to help us when we need it :) Andrew came to the rescue this particular week, and it was great catching up with him again. It was the first time we've had him visit without it being a BIG group trip... and it was nice. Even though we had to get to work and had lots to do.
I wanted to add this gas photo because I hope years down the road when I'm going through this entry in a book and reminiscing GAS and outrageous gas prices will be a thing of the 'distant past'. At $6.40/gallon and 145 gallons worth of fuel (the tanks hold 200 gallons on the boat btw, so we were just 'topping off' before the trip) that's $928 worth of fuel. Just to give you an idea... this is JUST the cost of fuel for one of the sailing trips... this doesn't cover taxis, hotels, charter flights, meals, food out on the trip, wear and tear on the equipment and such. Yes... it takes a lot to run our trips, and it is a bit overwhelming when we have the large groups and there is a BIG deposit of money into the account. But then it is so sad to see it dwindle further and further down...but it's all part of the FUN of owning our own company and running a business in the Bahamas.
After topping off the fuel this particular day we headed out into the harbor to enjoy a little bit of the Regatta races.
Captain Dallas sporting some new t-shirts!
Next year, we are going to schedule things so Dallas can get out on one of these boats. He's had to turn down offers every year due to our trips going out right after the races and things just being super busy.
We're going to do the trip BEFORE Regatta this next year and hopefully he'll be able to get out there. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to jump on one too :) Could be a great way to experience the races!
This week of weather for the Regatta seemed to have started a rainy month or so of weather for us. Dallas trip started off miserably after this, but I'll get some pics of that later. At least the end of that week cleared up and ended with our beautiful sunshiny weather we are so spoiled with.
The boys loved seeing all the action out on the water.
Emit stole my hat and was immediately transformed into a little model for me. He kept wanting me to snap a pic and show him.
My sweet boy! He's always got chocolatey or peanut buttery kisses these days :)
LOL, this is a classic Emit look he gives us when he's playing the game where he hides his eyes and slowly looks up and then quickly turns away once he makes eye contact. Makes us laugh every time!
Sweet Joss just enjoying the ride.
This look just captures his curiosity right now to me. He asks so many questions, but really good questions. Not just "why", but specific questions to the answers we've already given him. He's gotten more and more inquisitive with words I use that he doesn't fully understand. Words like "safety" "anxious" "frustrated" you know... a typical four year old's vocabulary :) He loves to hear my explanations of the words and will actually sit quiet long enough to hear it if he's interested.
It's been a while since we've played with our turtle friends... I'm thinking it's time for another swim with them soon.
My curious little dudes! I love this side of their stages of development right now. The whole world is a classroom and they just take it all in.
I barely managed to get them still long enough to snap a quick one. Emit's little mischievous look here cracks me up.
Thanks Andrew! Couldn't have done it without you. Hope the move to Michigan is going well. Love ya man!!
PS-- I thought getting a pretty nalgene with a bright pink flower on it would deter the 'boys' around here from using it/borrowing it therefore misplacing it (most of the time), but I guess not :) Dallas is proud to tote my girly nalgene around. At least this one hasn't gone missing...Yet :)

Great pics! Way to go Andrew! Always nice to have friends who are willing and able to help out. Love you guys!
I see theses post at home and have trouble posting comments, so sorry it seems I do not enjoy them...I DO!!! So proud you have friends able to help and enjoy time with you at the same time. The fishing trips have become successful and I always love to see the catch of the day! We are so blessed to have such adorable little guys - I think I could enjoy a room wallpapered with their cute little looks, hats, messy face, co-captain, turtle watching, funny faces, etc... they all tel a sweet and curious story. THANK YOU for capturing these moments with the camera...I know that can be a distraction and often a burden. I wil try to find a masculine Nalgene for you to steal from Dallas!!!
Be safe - I love ya, LOTS!!!
