CC Sets Sail!

We had another fantastic outing with my folks sailing around in our sweet little sea pearl :)
We sailed straight out from our beach to this little island that the boys have dubbed "Birdwell Island". Any Clifford fans out there? Well, they call it Birdwell now, but we used to call it Bird Egg Island.
Every time we come to this spot there are tons of little bird eggs scattered around the island and the momma birds get very defensive and start squawking like crazy. These little babies above were so cute and covered in their downy feathers. They couldn't fly yet, so they just herded around in the rocks all frazzled. My efforts at "We come in peace" went unnoticed to our feathered friends. They just wanted us gone.
As you can see it is just a tiny little island. But for it to be so tiny it has a lot of character.
There's all sorts of things to see and explore.
 A beautiful little sailboat, Arawak
Finding little crabs and snails and eggs and baby birds...what an exciting little trip for these guys :)
I love how these little clams (I think) cluster together. We'd see patches of them all up in the rocks.
An odd starfish with six legs.
Dallas trying to catch one of the kamikaze birds protecting their babies.
Furrowed brows. Open mouth. Frozen body. Typical posture for this little explorer. He loves to find things!
Of course when those things move in his hands he gets a little freaked. Thank goodness CC was their to hold his little crab friend so he could look at it closer without fear of it moving again.
I think Poppy liked this little spot too.
Especially with his little buddy :)
CC finally got her turn on the tiller!
Joss enjoyed CC getting a turn to sail too. I just love this shot of him!
He's being silly and pretending to be one of the birds nearby diving into the water for fish. He did this for a while and made himself laugh each time.
Poppy trying not to get whopped by the boom :)
Emit's not going to let you be concerned for your safety for too long, Poppy... it's time for climbing.
 Always enjoy a good sail!
This day was very calm, so I wanted to try something I've wanted to do for a while but haven't had the chance because when we're sailing as a family I don't want to jump overboard and leave the boys roaming free with just Daddy left to sail and watch them. But this day I had plenty of hands around to help with my little sailors so I jumped over with my snorkel gear on and a tow line.
It was kind of creepy because it was cloudy (as you can see) and the clarity in the water wasn't great so I couldn't see very far. Of course I also just kind of felt like bait behind the boat, but the area we were in was pretty shallow, but unfortunately it was also pretty sandy which meant there weren't a ton of fish to see as we were gliding over.
I think I have about one more post to wrap up their visit... we had a great time!

On a side note... the 2012 London Olympics just started last night,
GO USA! GO BAHAMAS!

Not sure how I missed writing a comment, but this was so, so, so much fun! Loved dragging our bait behind the boat and was VERY thankful not to catch anything that trip!!! I need so lessons on sailing, but in time will get better. Oh, how sexy was I - but Emit was having so much fun...I don't even care... LOVE this blog :0)
