Water Fight

Man Your Battle Stations....
A couple weeks ago we were out playing with the sprinkler when the boys and I decided to play with some water balloons. Next thing we were making a big pile of balloons to 'surprise' daddy with when he came home. We knew he'd have groceries so I told the boys we had to let him go inside before we ambushed him.
They were so anxious waiting for him to get home. We had to call and make sure he would in fact be coming home :)
He had a few minutes to run inside and then the fun began...
I got a few good shots in on him, but he definitely nailed me with one too :) I get so tickled at this photo below (by the way all of these were still shots taken out of the video so they aren't high quality) with Joss caught in the crossfire in the middle ducking way down :)
Oh my goodness we were all laughing so hard during and after this! What a fun little afternoon. I'm not sure how many Hunger Games fans are reading this, but if you listen closely to the video Dallas says something like, "she's guarding the corn" and then I yell "gotta get Cato"-- yes, we're nerds, but we were having a blast!

Here's the video if you're interested in seeing it full speed :)
Rainy day inside??? Let's make a village :)
And some pizza....
Joss is always such a sweet kitchen helper. He helped me wash dishes the other day and was so excited I let him help me. He kept saying things like, "Thank you mommy for letting me help you!" "Don't you like it better when I help you like this?" "I could do dishes with you all day if you want!" :)
A few projects I did a couple weeks ago. This dresser above is one of my favorite pieces I've done. There are so many things I loved about it, and it all came together so well. I learned a lot of this piece. It went to our taxi driver friend :) The coffee table below went to my in-laws. I hope they liked it.
We had another little camper friend spend some more time with us one day and he was having so much fun in the water. His name is Rion. Notice Emit was a little 'distressed' about something here. That's our word for Emit, it's become sort of a running joke with us.
The boys have been doing this thing the past few weeks where they say to each other and us, "if something's funny....laugh!" Then they do something they think is so funny and laugh their little heads off.
My snorkel buddies :) I just love these two. Always have to have a toy, always want to be in their big boy pants and always up for a good time in the water!
Joss always runs around saying things like, "let me show you this thing I learned at school." I always ask him, 'what school' because we've been off the last few weeks and he'll say, "at my school." My best guess for this is that he hears the boys next door saying things like this and he picks up on it.
Just chilling at the beach with my boys on a beautiful day!
I love watching and listening to them play together. The dialog is hilarious most of the time. I wish I had a recorder just following us around at times like this.
Playing with his jet below, love those sweet lips :)
My sweet Emit! He loves to be super close at the beach and in the water. He doesn't want me to hold him like a baby, especially in the water, but he's always really cuddly and giving me hugs and snuggles and I of course eat them up :)
Exciting day for us....
I am trying to fill in an area for my gardening spot, so we got this truck load of dirt to haul to try to give me some better soil to work with. Mighty machines (aka bulldozer) + lots of dirt= Lots of excitement! Poor Emit fell asleep before we even got to the mighty machine because he was so excited.
My attempt and making a dirt bed. Granted, after a rain shower passed over, most of my 'dirt' revealed that I mostly had a pile of rocks...so i'm sort of back to square one right now :(
August 1st opened Crawfish Season of course which always means time to go spearing.
It was just us and our boys and Lyndsay, O'Neil and Raelynn, so we didn't go all out. We actually speared more fish than crawfish. I got a pretty good sized turbot or Queen Triggerfish. I hit it a couple good times but couldn't get the spear to go all the way through so right after this picture was taken he wiggled off and ran under a rock just below me.
Dallas went back to check it out and rescued my poor dying fish. This is why I don't spear a lot... I enjoy looking at the fish and shooting pictures of them more than I do killing them. I was thankful for the dinner the Lord provided and I'm not against fishing and hunting, but I also know I wasn't made to be a 'killer'. I'll let the menfolk enjoy that task :)
Daddy showing the boys how to clean a fish. Don't worry, Joss is holding a leather case...Daddy has the knife with him.
More to come soon....this week alone we have Joss starting Kindergarten (tomorrow) and Emit turning 3 on Tuesday! Going to be a busy week full of fun I hope and lots of cute stories to share with you.

Lord, I have a knot in my stomach for school starting tomorrow with Joss. Help things to go smoothly, help us to get in a good and simple routine with school, work and play. I pray for patience with the boys. Please let me be a good teacher for them. Help me overcome my fears, insecurities, failures and distractions to be the best mom you have given me ability to be to these precious boys. Thank you for always being there. ~Amen

Always so many cute things to comment on...I really love the fun activities you create and enjoy doing together! Sweet distressed Emit, and happy helper Jossy...gotta love their different personalities ;0). Love the sweet moments on the beach playing and relaxing. The yard looks so much better with the dirt - hope it works out for you! Your wood work has really progressed, keep up the good work!!!

Sending my love and prayers as a new direction starts...
