Dallas and I got to spend a morning a few weeks back just hanging out on the boat and at the beach. We had a guest on our little Castaway (above). Our friend & neighbor, Ann Ligon offered to watch our little dudes for a couple of hours. It was a very pleasant morning!
The weather was gorgeous. It's always hard to me to just take a few hours like this because I feel like I have so many things that always need to get done, but these little breaks are wonderful too. The boys were all excited to hang out over at the boys house while they were away at school too so it was treat for them as well.
My Island Boy!
His First Mate (and only--wink wink)
This is one of my most recent builds, the boys' loft bed! They LOVE it! We love it and it has really been a great move for their room. I'm still trying to get all my finishing touches done on it, and I just ordered Emit's twin size mattress this week, so SOON I hope to have it all back in order in their room.
This was our first night for stories in their new bed. They've done awesome sleeping up there together. I was a little nervous that they would never get any sleep, but they seem to be doing just fine. They love knowing the other one is asleep right next to them. Joss woke up the other night yelling that "Emit's missing, he's gone momma, we have to find him!" I told him he's right beside him and he was just fine. His reply was, "I know, it's just my 'magination'. I just dreamin, but we still have to find him." Smart even when he's half awake :) But once he could look over and see Emit in his bed he was okay.
We have a few new families around that have kiddos to play with. It is so fun and refreshing to be around nice kids that play well and treat my boys nicely without all the fighting.
This surfboard has been a big source of fun over at Chat-n-Chill the last few visits over there.
Jossy soaring :)
Mason flipping... I'm always like the lady on the movie Dance With Me, "I wanna do that too!" :) Didn't get to this day...but that's okay.
Emit pretending to be shy for the camera.
Beautiful Elkhorn Coral outside of the harbor.
Always lots of fish to see around these corals. Apparently, according to Wikipedia, this type of coral is one of the most important reef building corals in the Caribbean. Even more reason to be excited when I see them.
It's a boat, it's a fish, it's SUPER SNORKELING EMIT!!!
And of course our friendly neighborhood Nurse Shark.
Coming out of the water... always a bit of drama at this point. Either because they don't want to get out, we're getting out because someone was fussy in the water, they want a snack STAT, or some other major cause for a mini-breakdown. Or they are still hyped up on the cool stuff they just saw in the water :)
Doesn't it make you want to grab your fins and snorkel and come on down and join us??
Joss is ready!
The tide came up a bit higher than usual and there was this fun tide pool over on Stocking Island. You would have thought this was a major theme park. The kids were all so excited to play in this uncommon water level.
I love how these kinds of things are so fun and entertaining for the kids. Just wait until you see what entertained them today after the hurricane passed by... I'll get to that eventually though :)
Farrah here is such a sweetheart and plays really well with my boys. They just love her.
Emit decided he wanted to give skiing a shot. We haven't forced this on him by any means. We always ask him if he wants to try it because we don't ever want to leave him out if and when he wants to go. Until this day he never even considered it.
He did fantastic!!!
I don't think he took his eyes off of me for one second out there, and I was watching him the whole time cheering him on. Ann Ligon was driving the boat for me so I could concentrate on watching my big boy :)
He held on like a pro, just like Joss did his first time. And Daddy skied flawlessly with his high priority passenger in tow.
Getting ready to head to the beach...
As our friend O'Neil would say, "Like a Boss!" Way to go Emit & Daddy, what a team :)
Emit felt mighty proud of himself.
Joss is getting harder and harder for Dallas to ski with, so he was trying to see if he could figure out an alternative way. The fact that he can do all this while skiing impresses the heck out of me.
That way didn't work so well, and holding him in the front like this was pretty hard for Dallas so back riding it is until Joss graduates to his very own training skis. Still a few years away from that don't worry.
More to come...
