Emit's Birthday Fun

We seem to have made the birthday morning 'wake-up to a surprise' a little tradition. We've hung stars all over the place for Joss, had the room full of balloons, and this time we added streamers to the mix. I'm going to have to get pretty creative to try something a little different each year. I've seen some cool ideas where they have to break through the paper over their doorway in the morning, we'll save that one for a little later :)
The streamers made Emit a little hesitant I think, but once he came through them he liked them.
Right away CC, Poppy, Bev, Xander and Kevin were ready with FaceTime. My folks had to get on the way to the airport and they didn't want to miss out on the birthday wishes :) They are all so thoughtful!!
It was a like a mini-Christmas for Little Man. Luckily Dallas had just gone to Nassau because two of the main things I had ordered for Emit's birthday got delayed and we didn't get them until we were up in Bama in October. He didn't seem to feel neglected by any means though :)
We had a party planned for the weekend with some friends, so we wanted to wait and do his cake then. But I had to give him a little treat to blow out his candles on his actually birthday.
I think he was pleased!!! Eeeeekk, I just love this happy face :)
Mommy and her BABY!!! Is he really already 3? Unbelievable.
On his birthday we headed over to Stocking Island with a few of our friends in our Small church/bible study group. It was a beautiful day!
We just wanted to get out and do something fun with the boys with no other agenda.
The boys had a ball running up and down the beach, swimming, playing baseball.... just having fun.
More baseball :)
Saturday was his BIG treat...
We rented a bouncy castle for the day, and the boys were thrilled to see it go up!
They barely gave the guys time to put it together and get air in it before climbing in and getting started.
THEY LOVED IT!!!!!
I have to admit, I had a blast jumping around in here with them too!
There were not many moments spent outside of the bouncy castle this day.
This was not at all the plan for his birthday cake. I had another cake pan ordered that I will save for Joss' b-day now, and Emit started asking about a week out for a Firetruck cake. I was trying to be resourceful and figure out how to pull it off without all the fancy props or pans. This was with a regular loaf pan. It's not perfect, but it worked :)
And Emit was very excited about his cake...that's what matters anyway! I have some great memories of some Barbie doll cakes my mom made for me and they always made me feel so special. That is something I am definitely going to try to pass on to my boys. Hopefully they will look back over these and smile too :)
We learned some fun new tricks in the bouncy castle.
Little Man taking a break.
Joss soaring...
Both of them were extremely exhausted by the end of the day.
Birthday Bounce....Success :)
A few things that I love about Emit at this milestone:
-He always insists on eating his pizza backwards and upside down. I have no clue where or why he started doing this, but it's been a while now and every time I watch him eat it I can't help but smile.
-Every night he and Joss take toys to bed with them (and at nap times). Emit is very specific on how he sleeps. His toys must be on the blanket right beside him, but they have to be on the top, usually on his right side. Not underneath, but right on top of the blanket.
-Emit's way of saying "I love you very much" is "YOU CAN BE MY BEST FRIEND ALL DAY!" OR "I LOVE YOU ALL DAY!"
-He still wants nothing to do with riding a bike... even though he got one with training wheels for his b-day. He loves to push them, and he can really book it on one too.
-His favorite character is Lightning McQueen. He loves this toy, just the little die cast car. He dropped his McQueen out of his bed the other night while sleeping and started crying. Dallas went in to check on him, but he couldn't find the McQueen car. He tried to pass off another car as McQueen because Emit was barely awake and he thought he could get away with it. Emit was not fooled for one second. He knew right away it wasn't the right car and got even more upset. Needless to say, Daddy made it right and found the car for real :)

I did a little Birthday Interview for Emit on this post from his birthday too if you missed that. It was a fun-filled couple of days for our Little Man! They are already looking forward to the next bouncy castle :)

Where does the time go...already 3, wow!!! He is such a sweet little dude...it was very hard not being there to celebrate his SPECIAL DAY. I love the special treatment he received and the smile that proves how excited he was ;0)
Another great celebration by mom and dad!!!
