It came a little bit AFTER his birthday, but Emit got this new bike! He still has yet to pedal it :) He never quite got the pedaling down on the other little bike either, and he rarely even sits on this one, but he loves to push it around.
It's funny to me because he totally could pedal it. But he gets very frustrated with himself and even when I'm pushing him on it, it feels very awkward. So we'll just wait and let him do it when he's ready. The swing is a whole other story :)
He still looks really cute pushing his bike along!
Joss is doing AMAZING in school! He really catches on to things really well and love to practice new things. CC found this cool dry erase letter book for him that he loves.
As you can see, some of his letters are really quite good :) Tonight he was coloring and he said, "mommy how do you spell 'Jossy likes coloring in this book'?" I went through each letter of the phrase as he wrote it the way he wanted to. It started at the top right of his page and slowly trickled down the right edge and then around the bottom until he had written each letter :) We're still working on the whole left to right, top to bottom, but you could see what he was trying to write really well!
I got off the water about two days before Hurricane Sandy started making conditions around us stormier. We were very fortunate with the storm. We had enough time to clean up the porch and outside areas and get everything secured, all our batteries charged, food, water, propane, etc (you know.. storm prep). She came, blew strong for a few hours, our power was out for most of the day, and then we were back up and running soon after. Lots of trees and debris, but again, we were very fortunate. Others sustained more damage, and some of the islands were hit a bit harder than ours.
Not only do we have to storm-proof the house, porch, boats, etc... but even our truck. It would have been a pool inside there had we not had this tarp in place.
"Let it Rain, Let it Rain, Open the flood gates of Heaven, Let it Rain!"
Dallas had to hit the beach really quickly before the storm hit to secure some kayaks we had forgotten about that were down there. Definitely coming out of the south or else this beach would have been surging like crazy.
The boys had fun in spite of the power being off and the rain coming down :)
The second the rain stopped, they were ready to go outside. And I was ready for some fresh air myself.
SWINGING is their favorite thing to do these days. Granted they spend a lot of time fighting over one swing in particular, but hey... if it's not a swing, it's a truck or train or spot on the couch ;) But nothing too serious. They've also been getting along pretty well lately, and been playing so well together!
Lots of rain water around the yard, but it hadn't rained much before, so within a day or so it was soaked up and all the plants were thankful.
The best part of the storm was this little drainage river above next to the sidewalk. You'll see why soon.
Below I was a little concerned about my newly planted grass seeds, but they had just enough growth and flourished after the rain.
"The RIVER" was the best toy. We started doing little 'boat' races down the river with leaves :)
They did this for a really long time, and loved watching their little boats float down the river.
These kids would go nuts over a big river, but for now...this was perfect!
We finally got Emit a new mattress... you can clearly see below that he needed his upgrade. He loves his big boy bed too, and has been sleeping really well. Just a fun side note... that pink box in the left corner was mine when I was little. He totes it around all the time full of toys. He is so cute carrying it around.
Want a little chuckle?? Warning, it's a little, well blunt :) Emit was 'running around like a naked boy' the other day and came up to me with his hand between his legs and asked, "Mommy, what are these little ball things down here?" LOL I laughed and said, "well, baby... those are your balls." I'm sorry using the technical term at that time just didn't seem to fit. He looked at me a little confused at first and then just started giggling then ran over to Joss (because he repeats all his 'funny' stuff to all of us) and "Joss, mommy said these ball things here are my BALLS!" Ha Ha, the fun is just getting started!!
We've been waiting for 4 years to build a new storage shed for our camping, kayaking and sailing gear. They are in three old sheds that have been moved multiple times, are falling apart, look like poo and allow all kinds of little critters to get in our gear. Our outfitters have learned to do the 'scorpion dance'. Where you shake your jackets out really well before putting them on to make sure nothing is hiding in there. ANYWAY.. we officially broke ground and started building a couple weeks ago!
I got my first truck load of lumber, slapped on my jeans and boots and this girl was ready to get to work :)
After our first day of hauling lumber, sheets of plywood ( like 30), hammering, nailing and sweating, we are calling it "P90Shed" :) We haven't been able to get started back up on P90X yet, and were hoping to start up a few weeks back, so for now.. this is our workout regime. It's pretty good, and using lots of muscles!

Emit is adorable in his helmet "pushing" his bike...soon! Yeah for Jossy and writing his letters...so smart and impressive ;0) Thank God things went well with Hurricane Sandy...sends fear through me every time the storms start brewing! Glad the rain brought entertainment and a much needed drink to the outdoors. Oh, lol, the tough questions...glad he was satisfied with your answer and the his little body is developing properly!!! P90SHED, you don't have much to shed, but looking forward to your finished product! You are an inspiration, be safe and build on!
