Softball Studs

I have a list a mile long of projects and things I want to do around here... slowly but surely I get them done, and sometimes they surprise me and turn out just how I wanted them to :) This little story corner driftwood piece was one of those projects. I got the original idea from Pinterest, of course, but we put our own flare on it too. Eventually this will go under their new bed in the little reading corner area.
I brought back a bunch of softball stuff with me when I got the shipment ready at my parent's place, so we planned an afternoon to the softball field with the boys.
They were very excited even though they didn't really know what was going on.
I'll warn you... we have a pretty amazing (thick with sarcasm) field to play on. It's actually not as bad as it could be I guess, but from right field over to about left-center....nothing but rocks. I will not be diving for any fly balls out there any time soon. Better be straight out in left field :)
Emit wasn't really into the softball part of things... just wanted to run around and explore.
My handsome hubby :)
Joss is getting really good with the wiffle/woofle?? balls and bats. He can hit them really well when he makes contact. This bat was a bit heavy for him, but he was hitting some still and did a really great job.
Every time he swings he'll say the strike count and hit count, so he'll be like, "Ohhh, strike six, hit 3". We have a little song/dance we do before I pitch it to him that goes a little something like this, "Keep your eye on the ball.... keep your eye on the ball....keep your EYE on the ball!" So original, huh :) But the little shimmy and song always makes him smile so its totally worth mommy looking like fool.
Emit trying to play catch, but having a hard time getting it in his glove. I told him he just has to keep practicing, but after he got his little pout out he was off running around again totally carefree about missing the balls.
Oh and the treasure find for the day... my old helmet :) They thought this was the coolest 'yittle hat'.
For those of you that may not know... I got to play on the University of Alabama-Huntsville softball team my freshman year of college. I also played all through school and summer leagues when I was younger. I have some wonderful memories on the softball field from my younger years!
Dallas checking out the ball situation on the other side of the fence, and a shot of our fancy field. But again, I am thankful for the field at least we have something!
I can see more and more of myself in these boys in some of their pictures these days. I don't care (that much) if no one in the family says they look like me because I can see it! :) This one here with Joss is one of those pictures.
On our way back home as we were driving through town, there was a little parade going on. Not sure what it was for, but the boys had fun listening to the band walk by.
Cute little half naked boys playing in the rain :)
Seriously...never a dull moment around this house :)

The storybook driftwood piece looks great! Really works for the boys bedroom. Watching the softball action makes me smile...so like their mommy in many ways...to include looks ;0) Makes me wish I could enjoy them on a team...they look like naturals! It's okay to pout sometimes!!!
Great fun :0)
