Joss 5th Birthday

Happy 5th Birthday (only 3 months late)! I pulled some of my favorite Q's & A's from his birthday interview here. I have a feeling I'm really going to love seeing these videos 5-10-15 years down the road. Hope it is a tradition that sticks :)

Another tradition we enjoy is decorating their door before they come out in the morning of their birthday. This year Joss asked for snowflakes. I think we had just seen something on one of our shows for these. So...snowflakes it was.

A favorite part of my day is first thing in the morning when they boys wake up, they come and climb in bed with us and we all lay there together for a bit snuggling, then Daddy reads our daily devotional, then we pray. We usually take turns on who prays for us, but more times than not Emit is the one that wants to pray. It's the sweetest little prayers too.

We let Joss open a couple little goodies in bed this morning.

We gave him one of our old digital cameras, and he was so incredibly excited to have his 'very own' camera. They have taken tons of pictures with it and he does a really great job of sharing it with Emit. I'll post these special pictures soon.
He also got his first pair of learner skates.
And headed straight outside to try them out which led to another present from the boys next door.
We asked if we could go back inside to eat breakfast, and get some COFFEE, so he just skated a bit more inside.....NAKED!
The one thing Joss asked for as far as a party was concerned was to do a "party in the driveway at night like we did the 'other' day".  Usually our Thanksgiving gathering turn into this, but he absolutely loves running and playing at night in the yard with his friends. So we have a bonfire and invited his little friends (and some of our big friends) over for a bonfire and playing in the yard at night.
Took me all day to decorate these little Car characters that took about 10 minutes to disappear, but it was totally worth the sweet little expressions from the boys.
Below you'll see our super fancy and 'pinterest worthy' party table--HA HA HA Or should I say, they table I threw together out of scrap plywood lying around (as you can see in the background we had just gotten rafters on the shed. BTW, this table served its purpose flawlessly :)
Getting the fire going and ready so that when it got dark we'd be ready and waiting.
Another shot of the progress on the shed at this point..notice the Christmas lights on it!

This was my last snap shot of the evening. I put my camera away and wanted to just enjoy the night and not worry about not being able to get the pics I wanted in the dark. Joss had a BLAST! All of his little friends had a BLAST! They ran into the 'jungle' and hid from the monsters, they chased down scurvy pirates, they jumped 'extendo-high' out of the swings, they went on treasure hunts... the fun went on until we all insisted they had to say goodnight. Bedtime was a 'piece of cake' this night! :)
Happy Birthday to my Sweet Joss!!! I love you so much and I am so proud of the God-loving, energetic, take-charge, imaginative, sweet-hearted, spunky little dude you are. You are such a blessing to your father and me.
WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!
