A Day at the Office

The holidays are always a really busy time of year for us. This particular 'Day at the Office' was delivering some kayaks up to Staniel Cay for a rental going out. Warning--there's lots of photos on this one :)
Not a bad day on the job... at least it wasn't at this point (we'll get to this later on).
Joss having fun taking his own pictures!
SUPER Emit looking so handsome :)
After every bath, Emit runs to his room and picks out his own clothes and gets fully dressed (and this is right before bedtime). He comes running out and says, "See how handsome I am, mom!"
Yes, baby... you are so handsome!
So, our job for the day was to deliver some kayaks up to Staniel Cay (about 60 miles north of our island).
The guests were paddling further north up into the Land & Sea Park from Staniel Cay for the week and then returning the kayaks there. We were unloading all the gear and they were almost completely packed and getting their life jackets on and we were pulling up the anchor as the girl says to me, "this all looks great, so where is the food?"
WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?????????? What food?? We never send out food with our rentals, how had this been expected?? I was so confused. And Staniel Cay has very limited food store options, VERY limited, and even more so at the holidays. So, we had to unpack their kayaks, pack them back in the boat, load up our very discouraged guests and head up a few miles further up the cays to Sampson Cay where they have a little food store that they could get their groceries for the week at.
The boys didn't mind the extra adventure, but the whole ride up I can hear them in the back of the boat defending themselves and saying we were at fault for this and on and on. All I could do was sit there, hold my tongue, and pray that this little food store would have what they need for their trip for the week.

The food store worked just fine for their food, but they were not happy and it just started their whole trip off on the wrong foot.
And in my defense, for what it is worth, I went back over ALL the emails we had sent back and forth and NEVER once had I said we will provide food, or had they mentioned they were vegetarians and requested specific food (which she was very adamant that she had done).
This little detour ALMOST spoiled our day....ALMOST, but not quite!
Back at Staniel Cay we met another guy heading out on a trip as well and he was all set and ready to go. Very relieved after that fiasco with our first couple. The boys were having a ball playing on this floating dock with the jelly fish and....
This sand pile. They rolled down this thing for about 45 minutes straight I think :)
Daddy's there outfitting our kayaker and this is the view from the top of their little 'mountain'.
They scooted...

They rolled backwards...

Jumped...

Flipped...
Smirked...

And did some silly little dances for me...

Mostly, there was a whole lot of laughing going on!

That is of course until they heard a plane taking off at the little airport across the canal. Everything stopped suddenly for that action!
We finally started heading back home as it was getting late in the day. Stresses were over, now the goal is to get back before it gets too dark on us.
It was awesome seeing our gear all up and down the cays with folks out on vacation with us :)
We had some Jeremy Camp jamming on the radio and were all having a good time at this point of the trip!
My little ROCK STAR :)
If you look close in this picture below.... I have two little passengers in my lap. HEAVEN for this momma :)
My night time pictures didn't turn out well at all, but we were out to see the moon rise and the beautiful stars come out. It was breathtaking, but we were relieved to get home safely after a long day on the water.
Tug & Barge Rocks with the sun going down on another beautiful day in Exuma!

What a beautiful trip...seems it took us longer than the video!!! Laughing at how windblown Joss and Emit's hair was styling ;0) I'm thinking you will need to enter some photos taken by Jossy in a contest soon ~ through the eyes of a 5 year old!!! So SORRY about the food chaos, really sounds like some things can be difficult with the clients...glad it was resolved! Gotta love a giant sand hill, especially when they are around sand all the time...I can just hear them laughing :0) What a beautiful day, all-in-all, and the most GORGEOUS night view!!!
I'm ready to buy a ticket and come play ;0)
