Barretarre Regatta- Day 1 Races

Back at it again here...I'm almost sick of Regatta posts at this point. They are so much fun when you're out there, but when I somehow manage to stretch one race weekend out over almost 5 months, it gets a little mundane. I'm sure you're thinking the same thing on that side of the post.
This was the first day of races for the Barretarre Regatta. Our friends, Ed & Kim, came along with their kids, Matthew and Farrah this day. It was Matthew's birthday and I think he had a fun time out there on the boat.
The first race was pretty fun, once it got going. Lots of excitement at the buoys and turns. We had a very short break in between races to grab a quick bite to eat. The highest priority on our list in between was to find these boys some CHIPS!!! Since they had been really great troopers that morning, I couldn't deny them their one wish. None of the food shacks had chips, only fried chicken, bbq chicken, chicken souse, ribs, rice, veggies.... the usual setup for Bahamian food. So we had to run up the hill to the only convenient store in Barretarre.
Dallas found a new place to rig up his camera for the race, out on the boom. Gave a pretty cool perspective. At the end of the boat races, they had other little contests back on land. They also had a swimming contest, which Dallas signed up for. Okay, I'll pretend like I didn't want to try my hand it too, but I'd be lieing, maybe next time I'll get the courage to jump in there.
As you can see, Dallas won, by a long shot :) The guy close to him in the photo started swimming when he was almost at the finish. It was pretty funny, the crowd was going nuts with laughter. The boys were so proud of their CHAMPION DADDY! He was their Real Live Hero! Afterwards it was a bidding war to see who could get to wear the medal. I'm pretty sure Emit held the interest in it the longest, he still puts it on from time to time.
We made one last pit-stop by the blow hole so the boys could 'show daddy the cool new spot'. Even though he goes here on almost all of his trips. It was a beautiful way to close our day at the races!

Lord, you have blessed me beyond measure and I am truly thankful!
