Chaos Cruise 2013- Eleuthera Part 1

The day after my mom flew out, we packed up our crew and were headed over to a nearby island (only about 20 minutes by air) called Eleuthera for a gathering you've heard on here before called a Chaos Cruise. I was excited about going to another island because as close as the islands all are, it is still kind of tricky (or expensive) to hop from one to the next, especially when you're multiplying by 4. Our day started off pretty exciting with a taxi ride to the airport early in the morning, while it was still dark. We got to ride with our favorite taxi driver, Patrick, in his brand new van. The boys were already jazzed!
The morning we arrived is when I got the call from my dad saying that the blood work on my mom came back a little out of the ordinary so they were doing follow-up tests. I was very thankful for the fact that since I wasn't with my family when I found the news, I was in a pretty good place to get prayed over and loved on. My father-in-law, Andy, gave me numerous hugs and prayers and encouragement throughout our week here.
You'll see a few photos or groups of photos on here with 'Photo/s by Erin K'...my sister-in-law is the eye behind that lens, just FYI :) Thanks for sharing the photos Erin!
The different islands in the Bahamas are a lot like driving across state lines. One place may call it 'pop' another calls it 'soda' and another may call it 'coke'. Each one has their own flavor and uniqueness. Eleuthera itself is HUGE, landwise. There were pastures and towns and at least half a dozen firestations... We can't even get ONE firetruck on the island, much less 6! And those were the ones we drove by, I'm sure there were more.
The boys were the only two kids there this week, but there was no shortage on people to give them attention. I was having a hard time this week feeling so disconnected from my folks and all that was going on. The boys were concerned too, but they still managed to help keep things a little lighter for me.
We stayed at a place called Camp Bahamas, which is a Christian Sports Camp. This location is really amazing! Anyone out there with Youth Groups or Carpenters for Christ ministries... you need to check out this place. Awesome spot for a camp!
We took full advantage of the basketball court. I haven't played b-ball since sometime in college, but it did something good for my soul to be out on the court shooting around with the guys this week :) I haven't lost my touch completely. The boys had a wonderful time playing around in here and learning the game.
You can see bunkhouses on the beach here where we stayed. Each house can sleep at least 12, but we got lucky and had a whole house all to ourselves.
The boys thought it was so cool that they got their own shower stall. They requested ones like that at home. Below you can see our pretty little views each day.
More from Eleuthera to come...
