I am sooooo excited about my new camera. Our friends, Robert & Bethany, sold us their 'old' camera since they are getting ready to upgrade to a newer model. Let me tell you... we got it for a STEAL! Now I just have to learn how to use it.
It's a Sony Alpha DSLR A100, and my very first DSLR :) (Can you tell I'm excited??) I'm a little intimidated because I'm learning from the very beginning, but I'm also up for the challenge!
I signed up for this online course that will take me through all the basics, plus some, and I wanted to have some of my first few shots up on here as my "BEFORE" shots and then hopefully I'll see some progress as I get to my "AFTER" shots.
I NEVER get tired of taking pictures of my little guys, that's for sure. They probably get tired of having mommy stick a camera at them, but I think they get passed it quick enough.
I definitely don't like the posed shots, and much rather prefer to get my boys doing what they do best...having fun and being sweet!
The thing I find the hardest right now (other than understanding apertures and shutter speeds) is getting the indoor shots without the shadows behind them. I've only done my first lesson so far, so hopefully I'll learn about this soon.
Luckily these little guys don't stay inside too much, so I usually have good natural light outside.
Ha ha, I couldn't resist putting Joss on here, as he calls it, "running around like a naked boy!" What a cute little tush.
We were running around this morning while the guys went out spearing--the water was pretty rough, so we decided not to go. They had been playing on the water slide, but I can't man the camera and supervise that without my waterproof camera (which was out on the boat)...so no shots of that. Emit really gets freaked by the slide, so he's in my arms pretty much the whole time out there.
The rest of the morning we ran around in the driveway and played in the dirt. In this shot of Joss below, he's not as sad as he looks. He was trying to decide if he wanted to go do what Emit was doing, or stay and play in his hole with his truck...he stayed put!
Emit was have a blast climbing in and out of Hagen's car seat. I guess it made him feel like a big boy doing it by himself. If you ever need a new distraction/game for your little ones... a car seat always seems to work for mine. Joss used to play in the infant carrier all the time when we were using it for Emit.
"Good teamwork boys!"
Hope you've enjoyed these so far...I'm sure there will be TONS to come! Thanks Bethany & Robert...I'm loving it!!!!

Oh how precious - you do such a good job already - I look forward to all your practice shots!!! I'm reading and scanning the pictures and "wham",the last two picture melt my heart :0) Please tell them how much CC loves them - Poppy too!!!
You will have so much fun! :) It takes a while to learn how the apertures and shutter speeds work. Make sure you learn how to use your on-camera light meter (should be fairly easy). I had no idea until a few months ago. I love that one of the boys pushing the wagon down the lane. I am still trying to learn about composition and things like that. Cute boys make for good subjects. :)
I can't wait to see all your wonderful pictures of the boys. You'll probably be able to teach me a few tricks when it's all said and done. Can't wait to see you guys! Love you!!!
