Dallas and I started dating in college after we had been a part of the same small group at our church in Auburn for almost a year. We met the Foshee family that year, and have held a dear spot in our hearts for them since. If only we could get them to come and visit us (wink wink). While we were in Auburn, we stayed with them. Marie and Wheeler have quite the empty nest going on these days with their three kids out of the house, so they had plenty of space for our little crew.
Marie and I had breakfast together at the delicious Barbecue House just across from the campus. That was a tradition we had most of my time there in Auburn. Sometimes there was a group of us that met to have a bible study and pray in the morning, others it was just a time to chat, but it is one of those places you are almost guaranteed to run in to someone you know. After that we took the boys to this kids place called Frog Legs (I just love that name for it) where they have all kinds of inflatable things for them to climb and run around on. It was a BIG hit with them. Most of my pics didn't turn out to be much more than a blur in there, but I think you can still see they were having a ball. That shot of Emit in the very middle is his classic "I sad!" pose and posture. He'll say that if he doesn't get his way, or if the attention suddenly turns to him and he decides to be shy. This particular moment Joss was wanting Emit to chase him.... Emit didn't want to :)
After lunch and naps, we headed to their farm just outside of town. It's a cute little farm where they do a pumpkin patch each fall (and lots of other hard work too). The boys were having a blast climbing on the tractors, trucks, wheel barrels... you know, all that fun farm stuff :) Oh yeah, and you see this silly open-mouth shot of Emit above?? That was his 'smile' for a while when I was trying to get a picture of him and would tell him to 'smile for me'. I just love it!
Our attempt at a family photo...
Wheeler gave the boys some ammo to through. I believe they were some kind of nut. I just love Emit's eyelashes and Joss' silly face.
Another big draw to their farm that had the boys excited all day was that it is right next to some train tracks. Usually, some very active train tracks...but you know how that goes, right!? Just because we really wanted a train to come, it didn't.
The boys were pretty excited about going on the tracks. I think I may have scared them a bit (or maybe I just scared myself) warning them before we got near them that if we heard anything at all we had to run, run, run and get off the tracks in time. Joss was keeping a very close watch for me and Emit kept saying, "uh, hear some-pin!" (hear something)
While waiting a little longer for the train that never came, we were playing in Wheeler's COOL farm truck :) We know all about the work trucks!
I was trying my hardest to capture that cute, candid, sibling shot of the boys...but this was the closest I got. Just confusion and goofy little looks that show clearly they think Momma is crazy :)
We had a group of friends come over and play some games at the Foshee's that night, another Aubunrn tradition. We used to pack the house playing Mafia....good times there! The next morning we got up and headed on campus for a little more exploring and to see the trophy of course! WAR EAGLE- 2010 National Champs! :)
Again, it was a very strange feeling watching our kids walking along campus where we used to walk as students, and wondering if they will be there someday or if they will choose somewhere entirely different. And it was also very strange to be walking around in buildings and this new coliseum that were mere parking lots when were in school. Our final little stop before we headed back to CC & Poppy's was to see Mark (Wheeler & Marie's oldest son). He had something we knew the boys would get a kick out of...a pet snake! Their faces say it all.
A road I have traveled many times before. I just love all the pastureland and trees along this route...God truly knew what he was doing when he designed our surroundings!!
Lots more to come, but that's all for tonight!

They have fun with whatever activity and adventure you plan for them - so glad they enjoyed themselves... I think the pictures on the train tracks and in the truck window are precious - I can only imagine the anxiety they would have felt if a train had actually passed by... Their expressions in the window is jsut CUTE :0) Why do boys love snakes so much - ewwww, gross!!!
Glad the trip went so well...
