I tried to take Joss to get a haircut while we were back so I could get some tips from my hairdresser on how to trim his the best. Of course, when we got there he was not going to let us get near him with the scissors. I finally was able to get it trimmed a bit once we got back home to Exuma. At least they let us cut their hair without any reservations.
We continue with more fun at CC & Poppy's house.
Tatum (below), Dalton, Ava & Jake all came over to play a couple times. This day we got to meet them at the end of the driveway to get off the school bus. We always try to do this at least once with the kids while we're visiting. It makes the kid's bus ride only about 3 minutes because my folks live so close to the school, but it is always a huge thrill for my guys to see the big school bus come and stop at the house instead of just zooming past.
Emit is trying to do a cart wheel above. All the big kids were doing them and he thought they looked like fun and ran over right in the middle to try it out. He and Joss can do pretty decent ones when they want to.
Dalton & Ava being silly and Emit watching with admiration...
Bev giving smooches to a sleepy Xander.
No telling why Joss is 'sticking his tongue out' at me here. Probably because I called his name to get him to look at me and he thought I was going to get on to him about something. Stinker.
Awwww, so cute. I think this was one of the days this sweet boy wasn't feeling quite up to par. Nothing can replace mommy when you are feeling poorly.
Yet even though this little guy didn't feel very well, and was actually really sick just a few days later, he was still a very happy little man.
Love his little crab shirt too :)
CC's like the momma bird with the food, but she has bubbles instead.
Taking it all in...
Ahh, they're getting too close :)
He was an easy target for pictures this day. So cute and way less mobile...for now!
What a sweetheart!
Emit, Joss & Jake played so well together. It still surprises me when we get around normal kids to see how well they can play with others. Makes me very proud that my kids are capable of interacting well with others too. Don't forget that most of their playtime is spent with three other boys that are almost like three other brothers because we see them so often. There is just a lot of squabbles, bickering, and attitudes that start clashing. It is not FUN playtime most of the time.
CC is in Heaven with all her special Little People in arms reach. I'm sure Xander was just a few steps outside of this shot in Bev's arms.
LOL, Joss trying to play a game with the toy gun... he wasn't 'shooting' Dalton, he was waiting for his 'orders' from him I believe, but I crack up at how Joss is holding the thing :) I'm glad he doesn't know any better.
The border around the playground was spray painted green. A few of the pebbles got some green on them. Each time Emit found one he thought it was a little treasure. It became a little game for him to see how many he could find.
Hard to believe how quickly they change. Our trip last year Emit wasn't able to climb up this side unassisted. This time he would say, "Don't touch me mom, just watch!" Baby...not anymore :(
The fun is basically non-stop at CC & Poppy's. They play as hard and as long as they can outside, then they play even harder inside and then they get to watch all the cool new shows that have been pre-recorded on the DVR--They have it made there for sure!
Joss love this dumptruck that Jake brought over to play with. Jake was very concerned about it being all messy and his momma not letting him take it back inside when he got home. We reassured him that we would help get it all cleaned up before he left. They had just as much fun helping me wash off all the dirt.
Going for a swing...or fly :)
Dalton hanging out in the tree. I can't believe how big this kid is. He will probably be taller than me the next time I see him. All the kids are getting so grown.
My sweet little Emit :)
Joss calls this 'practicing my balance'. He does it quite often on lines or boards or something else where he can balance.
All the kiddos except Xander. No down-time here...
Jake is trying to persuade Emit to let him have a turn with the green squiggly thing.
Emit's not so impressed by the suggestion...
He gives his firm response that he'd kindly like to keep the green guy in his possession.
Then it's Joss' turn to try to get the green guy. I hate saying this, but Joss is my little con artist. He's always bartering with Emit in ways that make it sound really great, but is so unfair for Emit. And I am so sick of something that CC told them. Not that it was bad advice CC, it was perfectly fine :) Anytime I make a comment to Joss like, "Joss, that's not fair..." or "Emit can keep playing with that toy because..." Joss responds with, "Well, CC said that when one person does something nice for another person, the other person should do something nice for the other person too."
It's tricky though because in Joss' eyes if Emit doesn't want to trade then he feels like Emit is being mean or unfair. He seems to think he can just tell Emit what toys he can or can't play with and Emit has to accept that. I imagine it is common for the older sibling to do that kind of thing, but to be honest, they fighting over toys and the constant debate on what's fair and not and what is 'protocol' and what's not is so stinking tiring. I would be so happy to get rid of every stinking toy in this house most days. We just have to find something that works to get through and then we'll have a better handle on it, I think.
Emit thought he was such a big kid playing in Ava's pink backpack :)
My dad sold his little red truck while we were there. He's had this little truck for a long time, and you know how it is... cars are like pets, you get attached.
Emit, taking a pee break... you know, right where he's standing :)
The truck needs work done on it, so they rollback truck was their to tow it away to the new owner. It was quite the show for the little guys :)
Emit was pretty bummed Poppy was getting rid of his red truck. "Why is Poppy's red truck leaving? That's my favorite truck? But why? Where's it going?" Poor little guy. He really didn't like it. I don't think Poppy really wanted to say good-bye either.
We tried to get some pictures of our little cousins in Halloween jammies...but all 6 eyes on the camera at the same time without the camera blurring...now that was a challenge. {I love you too Joss!}
Their silly face while I'm trying to get my settings straight.
Sweet little cousins... still not looking at me though :)
Time for bed for tonight....I'm chugging along though and finally making progress :)
