Esther & Lyndsay, two of my closest friends in Exuma are expecting babies :) for one it is the first, and for the other it is her second. We didn't get a chance to throw her a baby shower the first time around so I had to make sure I could this time.
I had this basket made for Esther by our sweet lady up the road, some of you have met her, Emma. She does awesome work. I took her a picture of the Moses basket style and gave her rough dimensions. And I mean 'rough'. She has you measure it out with blades of the grass that she's weaving with. So I had three blades of grass to measure the basket dimensions. I just love how it turned out. I sewed the blanket for it out of old fabric that was passed along to me years ago from my Nannie's quilting days. I LOVE homemade gifts, and I hope the people that get them enjoy them too.
I had cookies all over our house this week because I baked cookies for this shower, for a trip that Dallas went on, and then later you'll see some I did for a homeschooling gathering.
I think they turned out pretty well. I wish I had some little onesie cookie cutters, but maybe next time ;)
We had the baby shower at the Exuma Beach Resort and it was lovely! We had a gorgeous day and the ladies that came were very sweet to our mom's.
The best thing about the location was that we didn't have to worry much at all about the decorations :)
Everything turned out perfectly and I had Ann Ligon & Lyn to help iron out all the details! And Sarah from the Beach Resort--- if any of you read this... THANK YOU :)
We surprised both of the mommy's with the daddy's help of course!
It was fun to see their reactions! Above is Neville, Raelynn and Lyndsay, and below is sweet Momma Esther!
I've always wanted to throw a surprise shower for a friend, and this one we got to do was for two friends :)
I was a little nervous that being on such a tiny island word would get out, but it didn't.
Above is my beautiful friend Lyn (waving at us in the white shirt right in the middle). Hopefully we'll be throwing HER a baby shower soon too {wink wink wink--Lyn, I hope you read this}!
It was so fun to get out and have a fun, pretty and girlie afternoon with the ladies!
The food was all yummy too of course and was so nice not having to worry about cooking stuff.
Ann Ligon (in the gray dress below) planned all our games, and did a fantastic job!
Cute little Esther playing Pin the Diaper on the Baby!
Lyn's turn...
Lyndsay gave Ann Ligon a dose of her own medicine with the spinning :)
I forgot to get a quick picture of the homemade goodie I made for Lyndsay before I wrapped it up. You can still see it though. It's a little collapsible felt board.
My sweet preggers :)
All along I felt like we had to do it too early but we wanted to do it before they went on their stateside shopping sprees so as you can see neither one of them has big bellies yet... but I am so thankful the timing was when it was because they are both due within a few short weeks from now and I have been over here in the states with my family the past two months. God is so good and knows what we need before we can ever even think about it.
Cute little momma a trying to stick out their bellies :) Good luck ladies, can't wait to meet your itty bitty babies!!
