Bloggin' Ain't Easy (part 1)

Prime time example of what I mean by "Bloggin' Ain't Easy" I just spent about 30 minutes typing up most of the particular post (took about an hour for me to get all my pics uploaded earlier) and then the server crashed and I'm back to square 1. At least my pics all got saved, but still--- UGH this happens to me all the time when I work on this thing.

I love reading all ya'lls blogs, and I enjoy sharing our little adventures on here, but for those of you that do blogs you know that that in itself could be a full time job sometimes. Right now I know there are a lot of sad and tough things going on back home that I feel absolutely helpless with. I'm hoping this little gesture (the pics & tales) can help lighten the mood a little if even only for a few minutes.

I'm just going to jump right in to my Sticky Notes because it's already going to be a long set of posts. The other day I went in to put Joss down at bedtime and when I laid him down I felt that Bear and his bed were soaking wet (from nap time--yikes). I said, "Oh Baby, I'm so sorry...I didn't know this was wet" and then went on to change the bed so he could lay back down on a dry bed of course. While I was changing it he very softly said "I'm sah-weee". My heart nearly broke right there. I know he was just being our little mockingbird because he's been repeating everything we've said lately, but it sounded so sweet and so sincere. I just gave him a big ole hug and made sure he knew I wasn't mad at him, but that Mommy was sorry that I laid him down with it wet...

Emit is working on learning how to eat "solids". And by solids I mean mushed up bananas, rice cereal, and applesauce. He doesn't seem to grasp the whole swallowing concept. He makes me laugh so hard when I try to feed him. I'll get the spoon out or close to him and he starts this little thing with his mouth that is kind of like spitting, but it's just a little different. He wants the food, he wants to taste it, but then it's like his little tongue just takes over and does it's own thing. So he's pretty much nursing around the clock these days. He seems to be getting enough though, so I'm not worried about that too much, but I would like to see him learn to eat soon.

Along with all the cute and innocent things that Joss repeats us saying, he has picked up one that I'm not so proud of. It makes me laugh because he uses it in the right context and everything, and on his own sometimes... but I try not to make a big deal out of it so he will hopefully not like saying it too much. It's not even that bad, but still... He says (drum roll please) "OH PRAP" (which is his version of 'Oh crap'). I really catch myself now when I say it, and try not to let him hear me, but it's really convicting to see your actions played out in front of you. And like I said, I don't even think that is sooo bad, but it'll keep us in check for sure :)
We made a new discovery last week. Our little church down here (well, we don't really go right now... we're attending Church Online) got a little playground set with a green slide that Joss LOVES. It's within walking distance of where we live, so Joss has been asking to go to the "green slide by cheeewwwwch" (I've got to get it on video, because it is precious). He's going down it like a big boy in the pic above this. Guess who taught him that...3 letters...D.A.D!

The warm waters have returned, so it's back in the ocean on a regular basis now. Joss asks to "Go see turtles" at least once a day. Which now that the water is warm again means, let's go for a swim :) It is pretty regularly becoming our afternoon thing. Emit by no means is going to be left out on the action-- he will not let that happen. He sits in the stroller quietly just long enough for us to get Joss suited up and ready to go and then he's squirming and fussing at me to get him out of there and in the water. Once I go to take him out he starts kicking and laughing and getting soo excited. He LOVES being in the ocean.
Joss is a very happy man to be back in the water too. He keeps asking to "take wings off" so I'm sure he will be swimming on his own before the summer is over. We've just got to keep working at it, but he's very close!

Poor little Emit has been going through Sleep Boot Camp (that's what Dallas and I are calling it) the last week. I'm mainly trying to get him to learn how to soothe himself back to sleep at night when it isn't time to feed yet. He is 98% better than just this time last week. We've got him on a good little routine that only has him feeding twice a night. Once again my friend Meghan with Baby Sleep Science helped us soooo much and has been a great support with this. Emit is now finally taking good mid-day naps and is doing much better with his morning naps too. I know this isn't thrilling to those of you without little ones, but trust me---good nap times are a must for Happy Babies and in turn Happy Mommies & Daddies :)
Big Boy Joss is working on Potty Training still. He really hasn't had any desire to use his little potty, so we're about start doing a few things more on our end to hopefully help with this. One thing I'm excited about is this book I ordered recently for him called "The Potty Train". The fact that Joss loves trains and the front cover completely sold me on this book..."chugga chugga pooo poooo" LOL! I've also got a plan for a chart with reward "stickies" (stickers) that I hope will help. My mom just sent the "stickies" off to us today :) (not very many options down here)

In addition to Emit crawling all over the place, he is now pulling himself up on things. He can stand up completely and just kind of wobbles around. I know the bumps and bruises are really going to start piling on now. He just can't wait to catch up to Joss.
Joss is still such a sweet and loving big brother. I am so proud of how he took to Emit from day one and has been consistent. Every now and then if Emit has a toy that looks appealing to Joss he wants to see it too (of course), but he's really good about finding a replacement toy for Emit or himself. He loves to kiss on him and hug him and is always wanting us to pick Emit up or have him a part of things. Joss with Hippo, who else? This was just before Hippo got a much needed bath. He had dirt ('eww, poo' as Joss calls it) all over him after this little outting.
We went out to our new favorite spot in the harbor the other day (the sand bank) and it was HUGE. Seriously, beaches have been shifting like crazy with the winds and tides lately and over the past couple of months. It's insane, but this one was particularly crazy. It was EASILY the size of a football field if not bigger. Joss runs around on it like crazy and has a ball. If you come visit us, we'll take you to see it ;) ;)

Okay, that's all for Part 1--hope you didn't fall asleep or get too bored :) I'm going to bed!! Part 2 is soon to follow with some Easter snippets and more fun stuff!

Never will I get bored reading your Blog and the stories you share! I'm sorry it's such a hassle, because we really do enjoy them... How sweet of Joss to say he was sorry for wetting the bed - I can just see the two of you in a sweet hug :0) I'm very happy to hear Emit is sleeping better - you will feel like a new person with some rest yourself. They are adorable and I love you all very much.
Hugs and prayers, Grammy CC

I love your updates. :) I can't believe Joss is almost swimming already! Good luck with potty training. I haven't even attempted with Sweetie and she is almost 3 1/2! I can't get over how babies younger than mine are crawling moving around! One of these days mine will be too, I'm enjoying his lack of movement for now. :) Great pictures. :)
